Disclaimer: Are you serious? You really think I own CSI… of course I DON'T

A/N: the "Princess" story within the story is completely my own work. There is no other story I know that uses these characters in this setting. I actually dreamt this last night and decided to put it down on paper… er… on screen.

Sara:

Meaning… Princess

She never felt like a princess and often wondered why her mother would even give her such a name. She wasn't girly-girl or prissy like other girls; the name just didn't seem to fit. One night as she lay awake listening to her parents argue- again, she flipped through a book she had found hidden away in the garage; a book that would become her lifeline and a model for which she set her life.

In the book, the main character, Sara, was a warrior princess who fought hard for the people of her country; riding off into battles, she would wave her colours and sword proudly. She was the only child and heir to the throne of King George, who encouraged her to live boldly, without fear, but with much determination, grace, and compassion.

The novel told of her life, her adventures, her love, and her eventual death. At twenty-two years old, she was captured by the evil prince of a neighboring country, beaten, and left in the wilderness to die. After wondering around alone, injured, and cold for almost a week, she was found.

Prince Andrue, the son of the great King William, had come with his troupes to allie themselves with Sara's people when they stumbled upon a young woman who was bloodied, bruised, and half naked. Andrue jumped off his horse at the sight of the "damsel in distress" and wrapped her with his own royal cape, instructing all but one small group from his troupes to go ahead and join the Princess in the war, as he would moved slowly and cautiously taking care of the hurt Lady; it wasn't until they had reached their destination of the Great Castle, that she informed him of her true identity. Sara and Andrue had fallen in love on their short journey together and the King, overjoyed with his daughters safety and return ordered a great banquet in honor of the noble Prince; a banquet which turned into a wedding celebration.

As Sara Sidle lay underneath the busted Mustang in the middle of the Las Vegas desert, she wondered if she would be found like character in her favourite childhood book. Fear and anger gripper her as she could feel her fingers and toes start to ache with coldness and she tried once again to wiggle herself out from underneath the car.

"Ahhhh!" she screamed, as even inch of her body was in pain; she could taste the blood in her mouth and her newly broken arm was throbbing. At the faint sound of gravel moving, she stopped, pulling her arm back towards her body as a coyote prowled around the vehicle; shrinking back suddenly, the animal starting howling as it rushed back into the distance.

Water. Rain was pouring of the sky as she tried to keep her head up and eyes open. She was sleepy and tired- and yet now she was in the midst of another fight for her survival. Water came rushing at her as she took deep breaths and exhaled as slowly as she could until she was too tired to fight anymore. As the car and the current carried her further away from the originated spot she drifted away; like her childhood heroine, she would die in battle.

"Sara! Sara! Someone get a medic over here now!" shouting and chaos formed around her barely conscious body. "Sara can you hear me? Stay with me, honey!" Grissom's hand clasped hers as she felt herself being tucked and poked and checked out by the medics. "I'm here; you did good", were the last words Sara heard before they wound up the helicopter blade, and for the first time in her life, she felt like a Princess.
