Summary: AWE SPOILERS. It may be tough, but Elizabeth vows she will hold on for ten years.
Day passes after day; as time continues forward as it ever has, and she misses him. Weeks turn into months, then years, and she adapts, but his absence is never unnoticed. With each sunset she remembers that last day, and for a half of a moment despair threatens to overcome her. But then the moment passes; her son laughs or smiles at some little thing, and in the morning she rises with the sun, determined to keep going and hold on. For she will hold on, whatever tempests come her way.
She will hold on, because she loves him.
She will hold on, because the pirates have faith in her.
She will hold on, because her father said he was proud of her.
She will hold on, because her Navy friend did not give his life so that she could waste away into nothingness.
She will hold on, because she loves her son, and when he's happy his face lights up with his father's smile.
She will hold on, because she would not have her husband abandon his duty.
She will hold on, because she has faith in him, and she knows that they will find a way. One day, they will be together, and sunsets will be wonderful again.
She will hold on.
