Given how the outside world was a sloppy mess instead of the delightful children's paradise it was supposed to be around this time of year, Sakura felt no urge to move from her spot, extremely comfy and warm in contrast. However, not even the fluffy pillows or the way her backside was molded into the seats could stop her from feeling very restless. Or, at least, from thinking that she should be very restless. She had had little choice in the matter for the past week, thus she was feeling like she should be doing something important...or maybe not very important, but something useful.
She gave a loud sigh, annoyed with herself. This time of year was hectic for everyone, even herself, but somehow she found herself with a precious moment of peace. Luck must have been watching over her, bestowing these two hours of pure and amazing…nothingness.
"Come on, Sakura, do something," she said aloud, in part to encourage that the side of her that found the sofa a perfectly reasonable place to spend four hours on, and in part to hear a sound. Besides herself and a small field mouse that had taken up residence by the basement door next to the kitchen for obvious reasons, the house of empty of all the other residents. Unlike her, they had things to do.
Willing her limbs to move, she got up and stretched her arms behind her head, trying not to look at the impression her body just left in the seats. It was a reminder of the nap she had just avoided.
Oh, stop that! Think of something else!, Sakura thought, determined not to waste two hours simply doing nothing. Find something to do.
"I will move around," she said, putting an almost nonexistent determination in her voice. "Yes, I will move around. And I'll do something…too" Looking around the house, she found herself again at a crossroads.
The house presented her with no distraction. Dirty coffee mugs had been already been stacked in the dishwasher, not full enough to be turned on; no furniture needed any attention, at least none that Sakura thought she needed to do; her room had been organized and reorganized through a series of trashing her room then slowly putting everything in its rightful place.
Not even the TV offered her anything. It was the terrible time between talk shows and people trying to sell you objects at abnormally low prices. "Yes, buy this orange peeler, and you too will live a longer life! Only 200 Yen! BUY NOW!"
Ten minutes later, she found herself back on the couch, content with a two hour nap. Ah, she thought blissfully, it's still warm.
Author's note: Something I thought of while I was...napping. I know it's short, but I thought it would be a nice little debute of my writing skills and what I'm capable of. Please be kind with reviews. Thanks
