Disclaimer: I do not own Elisabeth.

All questions are asked, all phrases learned
We are the last of a world with no hope left

because all Sins are past
all virtues are memorized and all curses are said
and all blessings are voiced

Reluctant to give in to the seductive Empress of Austria's wish to die, but happy at the prospect of having her belong fully to him for once, Death tossed the knife in Lucheni's direction. All that was left to do now was wait.

The stage was set. Elisabeth, accompanied by a maid, walked down the promenade at Geneva. She was almost entirely indifferent to her surroundings, as she had been most of the time since Rudolf's suicide. Lucheni waited impatiently, and finally pounced on the empress, driving the knife into her heart before running away madly.

Ugliness can't shock us,
the good deed no longer an example
the evil deed leaves us indifferent
because all miracles are done
and all borders destroyed

She made almost no effort at staying alive. Despite all the grace she possessed, Empress Elisabeth stumbled aimlessly on the promenade before falling to the ground- dead.

We have seen every image and
all questions are asked and all chances are gone
we are the last of a world, which always thinks
about suicide and everything,
everything that happens helps us kill time

Everyone else faded into the background as Death stalked out toward Elisabeth's lifeless body. Slowly, her spirit broke out of its shell, revealing the vivid woman she had been back when she had been declared the most beautiful woman in all of Europe.

Death turned away. Did he really think that Elisabeth would want him now, after decades of coldly rejecting him? Suddenly, he felt her soft arms wrap around him. His face lighted. She wanted him, and now she finally accepted his kiss.

We finally see the stars' descent
ELISABETH...
