Kakuzu sighed as he looked around. They'd come across a village that appeared to be throwing some sort of festival for the cherry blossoms. Lovely. Festivals always made the prices of food and rooms go up.

"Look at this, 'Kuzu!" he sighed. But of course his partner didn't care. He was acting like a little kid, eyes wide as he took in the sights. Honestly, he couldn't understand why his perpetually angry, loud mouthed, zealot of a partner was acting so happy just because of some festival. Maybe he was hoping to convert some unsuspecting locals, or-

"KAKUZU!"

The banker winced. Apparently Hidan had been yelling at him for a while now, because his face was mad, and a crowd had gathered. "What, idiot?"

"Can I have some Jashin damn money?"

You may as well have asked if you could saw off Kakuzu's legs. His eyes narrowed. "What for?"

"I wanna get something to eat!"

"Can't it wait until we can find somewhere cheaper outside town?"

"No. I want dango." Hidan was prepared to pout, so Kakuzu gave in and handed him enough for the treat. "Thanks, 'Kuzu!" the immortal ran off before the banker had a chance to punch him.

Great. Now he was alone in the middle of an overpriced festival. Kakuzu sighed and walked on, determined to find a cheap room.

This turned out to be impossible.

The disgruntled banker sighed and walked back to the festivities. Now he had to find his partner and tell him that they were sleeping outside again. This would of course lead to a violent argument, and several days of not speaking to each other. But, first things first. He had to find Hidan. Unfortunately, he had no idea where to look. After searching for a while he walked out of the town, into the trees.

He was about to give up and leave Hidan to find him, when he finally spotted his partner. The immortal was sitting under a sakura tree, staring up thoughtfully. Kakuzu walked forward. "Hey."

Hidan didn't move. "Hey, dumbass."

"I thought you were having a good time at the festival."

Hidan snorted. "Yeah right. I hate festivals." He smiled thoughtfully. "But, I love sakura trees."

Kakuzu walked over and sat down by him. "Why? They're just trees."

The Jashinist frowned. "So what? They're pretty, and it's free to look at them, so shut the hell up." Kakuzu remained silent, and so did Hidan. The banker found that, despite his desire to be resentful, the trees were having a calming effect on him. He caught sight of Hidan scooting closer to him in his peripheral vision. It seemed to take the Jashinist an hour to move an inch closer. Kakuzu grew tired of the little game and slipped his arm around Hidan's waist, pulling the immortal close to him. Hidan blushed but remained silent.

After a moment, though, he began fidgeting, and scooted onto Kakuzu's lap. The banker was a bit shocked, until he noticed something; Hidan was shaking.

"You cold?" A nod. He pushed Hidan off his lap and unbuttoned his cloak. Once the clothing was removed he pulled Hidan back onto his lap and draped the Akatsuki cloak over them like a blanket. "Better?" Hidan flipped over and stretched out, resting his head over Kakuzu's main heart, and nodded. Hesitantly, Kakuzu wrapped his arms around the smaller man. When the Jashinist didn't protest, he gave Hidan a gentle squeeze and leaned back against the sakura tree.

This was surprisingly nice. The quiet, the trees….all of it was so perfect. Now he understood why his partner was so affected by this.

Speaking of which…he looked down and smiled as he saw Hidan sleeping on his chest. He'd worry about waking him later. He worry about the hotel room (or lack thereof) later. Hell, he'd worry about anything and everything later.

Because right now, all that mattered was the perpetually angry, loud mouthed, zealot of a partner wrapped so lovingly in his arms.
