So I finished Hyouka a while ago and had a pretty big influx of fic ideas. The only problem was that I didn't really know that characters as well as I thought I should. Thus the delay in Hyouka fics haha. I'm still sort of rusty on their characterization but here goes nothing. I guess you could say this is sort of in the middle of the series. Please read and review!

He could never understand her fully. But he supposes that it is what makes her, Chitanda Eru, the person she is. As his sister told him once before, something that he was lacking. At the same time, he wonders if he should really care. He was already burning through plenty of energy just thinking about it and even more by trying to discuss it with his sister.

"You're curious, aren't you?" He does nothing to hide his annoyance as the corners of her lips curl up. A chuckle escapes from her mouth and a sigh escapes from his.

"She's a strange one isn't she?" Inwardly, Houtarou agreed wholeheartedly. Outwardly, he merely sent a blink over to his sister's direction. She walks over and roughly ruffles his hair, relishing the slight furrowing of his eyebrows that come with the action. He deals with it for a bit before using an arm to shove away her hand, a slight huff coming from him at the same time. She smiles again and shrugs.

"The bigger question is if you're just dealing with it or are you genuinely enjoying it? Although personally, I think you're enjoying it." He opens his mouth to protest, anything to just get that oh so smug look away from her face. But he can't say anything. He's annoyed with the person that is Chitanda Eru for sure.

He has to admit to himself that he has never turned down any of her requests. Even that one request that he did turn down, he ended up helping her anyway. Houtarou ponders over what his sister just said, his fingers tugging on wisps of his messy hair.

"I can't say that I'm enjoying it Sis." A short pause. "I can't say that I'm dealing with it either."

This time it's her turn to sigh, to shoot an annoyed look over to his direction. "Have you learned nothing from all the time that you've had to deal with me?" He rose an eyebrow.

"All I've learned from you is that you can probably kill me with an Aikido technique." A rosy chuckle erupted from her throat.

"Care to repeat that again while you remember about my Aikido?"

His reply was swift and without humor. "No thanks." A content grunt comes from her and she turns to leave the room, not without a last jab to his very carefully laid defense.

"If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I do have to do it, make it quick. You're not being very quick this time around, are you?" She belts out laughs as she waves off his attempts to deny everything. He can still hear her joyous laughing as she walks down the hallway and into her room.

He sits in the living room, clearly unsatisfied with the turn of events. He lingers there for a minute before hoisting himself up and trudging over to his own room. He plops down on his bed and looks at the ceiling, one simple sentence repeating over and over until he gives in to sleep.

Thinking about this was fucking ridiculous.
