Bike Ride
"Hey guys do you want to go for a bike ride with daddy?" Nick asked the kids.
"Yeah." They responded happily.
"Alright, let's go get our helmets on." He told them.
Jackie grabbed the baby monitor so she could listen for Hundley and then she followed the rest of the family outside.
Hundley had come down with a slight cold, and even though it was almost gone Jackie thought it would be better for her to stay inside for another day or two so she decided to stay with the baby while Nick went with the rest of the kids.
Nick and Jackie put all the kids' helmets on them and none of them minded, they knew the rule, if you wanted to ride your bike you put your helmet on and there were absolutely no exceptions for that rule.
Karlie didn't want to follow the rule today however because she took her helmet off as soon as Jackie put it on her.
"Karlie you know the rule, if you don't want to wear your helmet you are not going with them." Jackie told her sternly.
"No." Karlie said stubbornly as she covered her head so Jackie couldn't put the helmet on her.
"Ok, then daddy and everyone else are leaving."
"No." Karlie said shaking her head.
"Yes they are, you better put it on."
"No."
"Ok, that's your choice." Jackie told her before she walked over to Nick.
"Just pedal out of the garage and then stop, once she sees you leave she'll put it on." Jackie whispered to Nick.
Nick winked at her.
He and the other kids pedaled out of the garage and then closed the garage door so Karlie couldn't see them.
"Noooo." Karlie wailed.
"Would you like to put your helmet on so you can go catch them?" Jackie asked.
"Yeah." Karlie said, vigorously shaking her head.
"Ok." Jackie told her as she put on the little girl's helmet, this time the little girl didn't protest.
Once her helmet was on Jackie opened the door and Karlie was very happy to see that they were still there.
Jackie gave Nick a knowing smile.
"Karlie I'm so glad you decided to come with us." Nick told her.
Karlie grinned at him, she was glad too, she loved riding her bike.
Suddenly Sloan got off of his bike.
"Where are you going bud?" Nick asked him, at this rate they would never leave.
"Come on mama, come too." He said as he pulled on her arm.
"Oh sweetheart, mommy would like to come but I'm going to stay with baby Hundley, but I'll come next time ok?" She told him with was smile.
"Baby Hundy sick?" he asked her.
"She's a little sick but she's ok." Jackie assured him.
He smiled and then got back on his bike.
"Bye guys have fun." Jackie told them.
They waved at her and then started pedaling away from her.
She went back inside and checked on the baby.
She was still asleep so she decided to read her book for a bit.
Everyone came back about a half hour later.
"Hi guys did you have fun?" Jackie asked them.
"Yeah." They all said happily.
"That's good!" Jackie responded.
"We saw a quireel." Karlie informed her as she toddled over to her.
"You saw a squirrel?" Jackie asked.
"Yeah, him cute." Karlie said.
"I bet he was cute, now aren't you glad you wore your helmet so you could go with them?" Jackie asked the little girl.
"Yeah." Karlie said enthusiastically before she toddled off into the other room.
Jackie smiled, sometimes Karlie was a handful but if you were firm with her she usually came around.
