Lucy glanced up and covered her eyes from the sun hanging low in the bright, clear sky. The three-day blizzard had finally stopped, but it left the entire street outside her apartment covered in a thick blanket of white almost reached up to her ankle. The trees stood starkly and forlorn, their branches hanging low from the weight of the snow. Lucy let out a shiver as she felt the cold-wintery air against her cheeks, her breath rising in puffs of moisture. It was fascinating how the winter always reminds her that she is breathing while the other seasons didn't. The thought made her feel silly enough to smile to herself.
'It's gonna take a while to get to the guild through all this snow.' Lucy frowned.
"Luuuuuucyy!" She turned her head towards the direction where the familiar voice came from. Natsu's blue cat Happy was waving at her while floating in mid-air with his wings spread out.
"Yo, Lucy." Natsu looked up from the giant snowball he was rolling to shape. "We were waiting out here for you."
"Natsu, Happy." Lucy dragged her boots through the snow towards her friends. "Are you guys making a snowman?"
Natsu chortled at her. "Of course not." He picked up the giant snowball and held it over his head. The wicked grin across his face made Lucy let out a nervous laugh. "Natsu… don't tell me."
"SNOWBALL FIGHT!" The salmon-haired mage yelled out before running towards Lucy to throw the giant snowball at her. Except he made a miscalculation about the depth of the snow covering his feet. Natsu tripped face-forward, making him lose his grip on the giant snowball and it fell onto his head. Lucy erupted into a fit of laughter while Happy tried to stifle it, still floating above him. Natsu pulled his head out of the pile of snow and spat out snow from his mouth.
Lucy was still doubling over with laughter and trying to catch her breath. "You're such an–" A ball of snow exploded upon impacting her face before she could finish the sentence. "–idiot."
Natsu pointed his finger and laughed at the blonde girl mockingly. "Look who is the idiot now."
Seconds later, they were both kneeling to mould snowballs and throwing them at each other. Happy frantically flew back and forth trying to avoid their aim. "Here take that!" Lucy hurled a snowball towards Natsu with incredible force making her miss the target and hit Happy instead, who was sent flying across the sky.
Lucy gasped. "Oh no! Happy!" Natsu doubled over with laughter. "Lucy, you're so cruel." She glared at him. "It was an accident."
He stopped laughing and looked over the western horizon where the sun had finally sunk down, and one by one the constellations had started to appear in the sky above him. "Waaah! The stars sure are pretty."
Lucy gazed up at the fixed patterns of the stars. She followed each star to find the pattern of the constellation Aquarius and smiled wistfully. "Yes," Her hand instinctively went to the broken key she wore as a necklace. "They're beautiful."
A/N - I wrote this for a class and it was under a word limit which is why it is super short. Also it's kinda rushed too I know, 'cause procrastination is inevitable when you're in university. Regardless, I figured I would put this up here since I haven't posted anything in forever. I hope you enjoyed.
