The One You Love
She had woken up especially early that morning. She had a laundry list of things she had to do, and she wasn't about to forget today. The sun was just rising over the horizon when she left the house, bag in hand, for a day of shopping. Not a lot of people spoke to her on the way to the store. It was okay, she didn't speak to a lot of people either. There was only one person she wanted to see today, and she was going to do it.
First stop of the day: The florist. She had to make sure she had the right kind of flowers for tonight, and to reserve them. The florist seemed happy to see the young woman in such high spirits, and happily helped her with her order. A large bouquet of her favorite flowers. They had them in stock, thank the Creator. She wouldn't be able to show her face if she didn't have the right flowers.
She meandered about town for an hour of so, just window shopping, musing to herself how something would look on herself or another. The next stop would be the grocers, to buy supplies for the romantic picnic she had planned. Bread, sliced meat and cheeses, and some bottled spring water was just what she needed.
Outside the store, she saw a familiar face, one of her good friends out for a walk. The pair exchanged a few pleasantries before wishing each other a good day and parting ways. With her bag of groceries, she continued on down the road, humming a little tune as she window shopped once more.
Morning waned into afternoon, and found the woman returning to the florist to pick up and pay for her flowers. Satisfied with the purchase, she left the stare, picnic basket full of sandwiches and other finger food, and started her way down the road. She took a turn in the road and started towards the edge of town. Off the road and onto a dirt path, the woman's spring dress swayed along with the breeze as she got farther from town. Finally, she found the place where she was to havehave her picnic with her beloved.
Pushing open the wrought iron gate, the young girl stepped inside, greeted by dozens of silent stone citizens. She wound her way slowly through the phalanx to the large tree in the center. It was a spot special to her. She put the basket on the ground and placed the flowers before one stone guardian, the name partially covered in grass shavings and dirt. "Oh, look at you..." The woman spoke as she wiped the cuttings and dirt on the stonestone. "You're all filthy..." Finishing, she spread the blanket across the ground before the stone and sat down, unpacking some of the picnic food. Stretching over, she planted alittle kiss on the headstone.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Rayne. I love you." She spoke simply, the wind howling mournful in the distance. As Elizabeth Miura Sat on the blanket, having a picnic with her dead wife, her sweet smile was marred by a few renegade tears who would make their presence known. As for Elizabeth herself? Well... What can you do once you've ran out of tears to cry?
