To obtain something of equal value

Out of all the stupid things Alphonse,Edward and I have ever done I think this tops them all. Currently, Ed, Al and I are sitting in the basement of the Elric household preparing to try and bring Trisha Elric back from the dead.

Why al and I agreed to this is beyond me.

"brother are you sure this is a good idea?" Al asked grabbing the salt off the table and hands it to Ed.

"Al, do you want to see mom again or not!?" Ed snapped back before sticking is nose back into his book. "Okay. Water (35 L), Carbon (20 kg), Ammonia (4 L), Lime (1.5 kg), Phosphorous (800 g), Salt (250 g), Saltpeter (100 g), Sulfur (80 g), Fluorine (7.5 g), Iron (5 g), Silicon (3 g). alright i think that's everything. "

"Edward.." I begin only to be cut off by Ed yelling at me.

"Elena, if you don't want to help then just leave." Ed yelled as he turns around so that his back is now facing me.

I swear ed can be such a jerk sometimes.

"I wanna help!" I yelled back, but something in the back of my mind was telling me to stop ed from doing this human transmutation.I push the feeling aside though, and keeped helping. This is all for my best friends after all, so that they can see their mother once more.

"good, now come on, it's time." I looked over to Al, then back over to Ed again. I walk over to Al and stand beside my childhood best friend. "Alright, we all need to prick our fingers, I'll go first. " I watch as Ed pulls out a pocket knife and begins to cut his index finger. He then flips his finger over and lets his blood drop onto the pile, then looks over to us. "mind giving me a hand?"

I walk over to ed and grab the pocket knife from ed and quickly sliced my finger. Al dose the same and drops his blood into the pile as well.

"now everyone touch the circle and if everything is correct, we'll have mom back." Edward said and looks over at Al who was sucking on his bleeding finger.

"You alright al?" I asked as I tried to hold back my laughter but failed miserably.

"yeah, I'm fine." he said and walks over to where ed and I were kneeling down at.

"Okay, is everyone ready?" Ed asked again. I looked over to Al who just nodded his head and gave a soft 'mmm'. "Elena?"

I nod my head. "Ready."

I slowly reach down to touch the circle sill feeling iffy about this whole thing. It's for Ed and Al, come on Elena.. I placed my hands on the circle along with Ed and Al which had caused the circle to glow a blue color.

"Brother, something doesn't feel right." Al felt it too, i'm glad I'm wasn't the only one who felt it.

We were about to take our hands off but before we could the circle had turned a violet color and an eye had appeared in the center of the circle along with little black hands.

"ahh.."

"Alphonse!" I snap my head over to where Al was. Al's hand.. It's… gone, and ed's leg was too. What was going on?

"BROTHER!" I looked back over to Al who was being disassembled by the small black hand. I had to get to Al and quick.

"Alphonse! No!" I quickly reach for his hand but it was no use, Al was already gone.

And before I knew it the world around me had gone black.
