The Melon/Father/Firelord

The comet is coming and the Avatar is doomed. I hate to say it but there seems little chance that this naive, peaceful air-nomad boy could defeat my father.

With Sozin's Comet nearly upon us and Aang's training at full force it seems odd to think that not so very long ago I was hunting this group with all my energy. And yet their current lay-back nature surprises me. In fact, I earlier lost my temper only to find that I had been left out of a rather important plan in relation to timing. I did my best to explain to them the gravity of the situation, to make them see that the Firelord was not going to sit idly by while Sozin's Comet gave him the power to destroy the world and that he planned to do just that. One necessary lesson in fire-bending followed, redirecting lightning.

Sokka came up with a plan for a mock up of Aang's confrontation with the Firelord. "Gather 'round Team Avatar. In order to take out the Firelord, or in this case, the Melonlord our timing has to be perfect. First Suki and I will draw his fire, then Katara and Zuko charge in with some liquidy-hot offense, and while the Melonlord is distracted Aang swoops in and... BAM! He delivers the final blow."

"Ahh. What about me?"

"For now you're the Melonlord's forces."

"So I get to chuck flaming rocks at all of you?" The anticipated glee with which she said this rather frightened me.

"Whatever makes the training feel more realistic."

"Sweetness!" After we had prepared the flaming rocks which would soon be hurled at us, we set up to begin. "Mah ha ha ha ha!" From our assigned positions we saw Sokka's signal. waves one and two deployed. The first obstacle went to Suki and Sokka, who went through it with surprising ease. I'm beginning to wonder; from what I've seen, if there's nything that sword can not cut through. This, however, was follwed by a large flaming boulder which nearly crushed Sokka.

"Watch it Toph!"

"I am not Toph, I am Melonlord!" For being a blind small child that girl can be as frightening as Azula on bad day. I must remmber, if I survive this exercise, to tell her that she has the voice of the Firelord almost exactly. "Mah ha ha ha ha ha!" Her next fiery stone missal came to Katara and I follwed by a ring of rock soldiers.

"Now, Aang." Sokka's signal was answered alost immediately by the sight of Aanglaunching off a rock down to where the Melonlord stood. At the last moment he hesitated, his staff haulting not two inches from melon head. He then stepped back as we watched from a rock outcropping.

"What are you waiting for? Take him out!" I was baffled by his reluctance.

"I can't." This simply annoyed me, we did not have the time to have doubts. The comet was coming and my father's plan about to be put into action.

"what's wrong with you? If this was the real deal, you'd be shot full of lightening right now!" Sokka said, confronting Aang. If I had spoken I would have said something similar but with much less control.

"I'm sorry! But it just didn't feel right. I didn't feel like myself." This was not the time for him to be having oral issues with taking out the Firelord. If he didn't get over it quickly he'd be dead within seconds when the time came to take on the Firelord.

Sokka, obviously as frustrated as I was took his sword and sliced through the melon head. Aang flinched visably. "There, that's how it's done." I'll admit a unexpected shiver went up my spine as the slices off half landed with a squelching thud. For just a moment my mind visualized, with a thrill of satisfaction and disgust, a flying lemur eating my father's brain.
