Mew: Has anyone read Nevermore yet? If you haven't, I'm not going to spoil it for you. I read it already, and I was thinking how it would turn out if it was like every princess's story. Happily ever after. Enjoy.
Happily Ever After
As the sun shone midmorning on the hawks cliff, brown eyes scanned the horizon with raptor vision. At the corner of her eye, she saw him, winging his way towards her, black wings large compared to his body. As he drew closer, she could see his black hair being ruffled by the speed of his flight, his dark eyes narrowed against the wind.
The still youthful looking adult folded his wings in, going into a controlled dive. At the last second, he extended his wings, catching the winds and narrowly missed going splat against the rocky outcrop. He landed gently, not too far away from the woman before him.
She spoke first. "It's been twenty years." The sentence was a statement.
He nodded. "It's been twenty years," he confirmed, casually brushing some stray black hair out of his eyes. "Max. How has the Flock been?"
"Fang, Angel missed you," Max said. "Izzy and Gazzy were sad at first, and Nudge cried for four days when you left again."
Fang inclined his head towards her again. "How are they now?"
Max smiled, the first smile she had cracked all day. "Angel's grown up. She's 27 now. She and Gazzy have bought their own house. Izzy's close to marrying Ella, I think he'll ask her soon. Nudge is a supermodel - what did you expect?"
Fang smirked, amusement spreading across his face. "Motor mouth Nudge a supermodel? I never doubted her."
Max's smile fell slightly and she moved towards Fang. Fang had grown several inches during the timespan they had been apart, and she had to tilt her head up a bit to look into his eyes. "Hey, Fang... What are you going to do now?"
Fang shrugged. "I don't know. I might go get a job, earn some money to get myself an apartment."
Max nodded. She opened her mouth as if to speak, then paused and looked over his shoulder. She had to up on tiptoe to do it. Fang frowned at her. "What are you doing?"
The smile had returned. "Look," Max urged, pointing to something behind Fang.
Fang turned his head, then spun around. Angel, Gazzy, Iggy, and Nudge were approaching in the distance. He could just make out delighted expressions on their faces. Max was right, he realized. Angel had grown up.
Max stood by his side, then looked up at him again. "Want to meet them again?" she asked, stretching her wings as if to fly.
Fang spread his wings as well, preparing to leap off the rocky outcropping. "Sure." He jumped, spreading his wings to catch the air.
Max caught up to him easily. "Hey... you know what Fang?"
"What?"
"I missed you."
"...I missed you too Max."
She looked relieved, shaking brown and golden curls from her face. "Fnick," she said teasingly. "Race you!" She accelerated immediately.
"No fair!" Fang yelled, although the tight knot of tension in his stomach resided. Twenty years were now over. He was finally home.
Mew: See? Happily ever after. I always think about something like this when something bad happens at the end of a good book. How things could have been... How every fanfiction writer wants it to be... Yeah. Review, please!
