"Eat your fries," Kurt instructed as he pushed the basket of delicious looking fries back in front of Mercedes.

Mercedes sighed as she wrinkled her nose, repulsed and attracted to the greasy goodness.

"Why aren't you eating, Cedes?" Kurt demanded of Mercedes.

"I… I don't really feel comfortable eating fries in the mall in front of… Everyone."

Kurt sighed. "Honey, I thought Quinn talked to you about this."

"She did. Well, she talked about proper nutrition and I have been eating properly. I just don't want to eat the fries!"

"When was the last time you ate?" Kurt asked.

Mercedes blushed. "When?" he asked.

"Yesterday at breakfast."

"What did you eat?" the flamboyant boy prodded.

She sighed. "A granola bar."

"Mercedes! You could get sick! I thought you listened to Quinn!"

"It's kind of hard to take advice from a pregnant girl."

"She's not pregnant anymore."

"Yeah, and now she's back to Sue Sylvester's great diet plans."

"Well?"

Mercedes sighed, leaning back in her chair. She reached into one of her Calvin Klein bags and brought out a pair of rhinestone speckled sunglasses. "Aren't these great sunglasses? I snatched them for forty bucks!" she exclaimed.

"Don't change the subject," Kurt told her.

She sighed. "Fine. Kids… Kids in middle school called me that fat ugly black girl, alright? They… They damaged my self esteem! I… I've never been able to get the notion that I'm a fat girl out of my head ever since."

"Mercedes!" Kurt reached across the table and lightly held her arm as a way of showing his support. "You're not fat, you're an average weight. And you don't need to be model thin to be a normal weight. Alright?"

Mercedes nodded speechlessy. "You need to take care of your body," he told her. "It's the only one you'll ever get!"
