"Bella?" His voice floated to play in her ears. She shook it off; the voices in her head were getting out of hand.
"Bella." The voice sung again. She hissed at herself. This was stupid. How long had Edward been away for? Too long, much too long.
Bella screamed as an ice cold hand touched her shoulder; she spun round, gasping for air as she saw the face in front of her.
His amber eyes burned through her, they were soft and gentle, just like she had remembered, just like she had dreamed all those nights, just like she was just managing to forget. The memories of the past few months all flooded back at once, it was all too much for Bella, tears flowed like the poring rain, drenching her back and hair, dripping onto her and Edward.
His soft hand reached up to her face and she flinched away as it wiped away a tear drop. His other arm went to wrap itself around her but she backed away, shaking her head, shaking all over. Her hands were clenched, her face stained from the tears that had fallen and those who were still passing.
He stepped forward and he stepped back. "No." She whimpered. "No." Edward nodded and bowed his head, as he looked up, Bella could see his watery amber eyes, sparkling in the little sunlight there was. The tears ran down his perfect cheeks, but he gave a weak smile, turned and walked, slowly, heavily, clumsily even, back to the opening in the woods.
Bella collapsed onto the sodden ground, her head in her hands, sobbing. The wind howled around her, feeling her pain, her aching. The rain, pouring, crying for her also.
She awoke, hair still damp, curls spread over her pillow, in the familiar setting of her room. The rain was pounding on the window, and the room was in darkness. Had it all been a dream? Who knew? Bella didn't care. Or so she told herself. He was gone, and that was all that mattered.
An amber glint caught Bella's eye, her head spun round to face her bedroom corner, it shrouded in darkness. A pale, beautiful youth stepped forward. Bella's lips parted to scream, in a blur of white, the mans frozen hand clamped itself on her mouth, and Bella found herself staring into an pair of intriguing amber eyes once again.
