A/N: If you're wondering who those two people are, I wrote this with Elle and Reid in mind but you can put anyone you want in to those roles. Nothing really says one way or another.
Disclaimer: I do not claim ownership of Criminal Minds.

"Don't"
The word whispered across the space between them. Cutting through the silence like a sharp knife. The silence lingered though, and they stared at each other. He was standing on her doorstep and she was standing in her open doorway. Just staring at one another.
"Don't"
She whispered it again. He knew what she meant. Don't make her say good bye. Don't make her face them. Don't make her tell him why. Don't say anything at all.
He's never been very good at listening to her 'don't's. He never been very good at listen to anyone's when he thinks he's right.
But he's not sure he's right this time. He's not sure he should be here. He probably shouldn't be.
He doesn't look back when he walks away. He just turns around and walks back to his car. He'll let her be for now, no matter how much it hurts.
He came here to at least get a goodbye, to talk to her. He managed to get the courage to knock on the door but he couldn't force her to talk to him. He couldn't force her to say goodbye. He knows that saying goodbye will hurt her as much as not saying goodbye hurts him. But for now, maybe it's better to not say goodbye at all.
