"Tomoyo-hime maybe you should sleep…its getting rather late…" Soma called from her place on the nearby window ledge.

"I'm fine Soma if you wish you may go to bed, I won't be up much longer." The princess replied from her seat as she flicked through a few pages in a book, "I promise you I won't go to sleep too late."

Soma nodded and crossed the room before glancing back then exiting. Tomoyo sighed slightly; ever since Kurogane had left things were quiet. Maybe a little too quiet for her liking, even Soma seemed to be speaking less.

Her loud ninja was gone and probably wouldn't be back for a long time, maybe even years. Thinking back on it the dark haired princess could even say she regretted her choice.

She remembered the first time they'd met, after the attack on Suwa. Even if the two were separated by dimensions the young princess liked to believe that they were connected by that event.

In truth that's why she'd chosen to send Kurogane away, to let him seek what he wanted to find. She wanted to give him the freedom to defeat his demons, to be able to rest at night knowing everyone was safe.

When she'd found the boy clutching the body of his mother she'd immediately felt sorry for him. Tomoyo had been able to help lay the priestess to rest after restraining the traumatised boy.

He'd awoken in the palace where Tomoyo had been watching him; even in sleep he looked pained. The princess agreed to place the sword with his mother and forged a new one for him to use.

He'd always looked happy when on the battlefield; he'd trained for many hours with Soma. He'd even snuck outside the palace grounds on several nights.

Tomoyo had secretly watched him every time.

Tomoyo turned to look out the window, the moon was bright again, bright and full. Another thing that reminded her of the ninja she'd sent away.

Reluctantly he gaze shifted to a pile of papers which had been discarded for many weeks. It was too peaceful to be shifting through papers and Soma had obviously lost the heart to tell her to work. If Kurogane could see the two now he'd probably blow his lid.

The thought was amusing, as was every anger fit of the warrior. Her and Soma would endlessly mess around and act silly just to get a reaction. Even when he was being sent away they'd teased him.

Many times the princess had thought on contacting someone, anyone she could, to see how her ninja was doing. To see if he still remembered his home, to see if he remembered her.

It was nights like this when she'd always expect to hear something from the rooftops of the buildings, someone running about, but nothing ever came.

It was too quiet now her ninja had gone. She regretted ever doing it. But…it had to be done. Kurogane had to learn about true strength and he wouldn't learn it in the palace.

Although he'd broken so many rules he still kept one, protect the ones you care for, he'd always done that.

Now he probably thought of Tomoyo as the evil wretched princess who sent him away. She laughed bitterly.

The door opened quietly as Soma checked up on he princess after noticing the light was still on.

"Hime…I thought you weren't going to be up much longer." She questioned the young princess.

"I was just remembering something…" Tomoyo smiled slightly, "Do you think I was too harsh on Kurogane?"

"Not at all…even though he's gone I'm sure he'll return someday and be better than ever." Soma replied giving a reassuring smile.

"Thank you Soma. I'm sure he will too." Tomoyo walked over to the window and glanced up at the moon again. "Someday…you'll forgive me…"
