A Funeral
(My first short songfic)
Black veils hid his pale skin
As his body trembled in fear
He could not face his friends
In another Hogwarts year
Everything had changed
Snap, and that was it,
One split second, gone,
Harry could not sit,
His body swayed among
The black sea of magic,
Part of him lied,
It told it was a trick,
That Sirius would come back
He wasn't really dead
It was all one big joke
But none of that was said
Sirius was dead, killed,
Before his very green eyes
Despite his friends' comforts
He smelled their putrid lies
His godfather lay stiff,
Bloodless in his chest
He's cold and unaware
How he's come to rest
Golden rays fell upon
The casket raised above
Emerald leaves spiraled down
Coldness numbed the love
Harry stood beside
The black and dreary flock
Cheeks freshly moistened
A dove beside a rock
He stood out, chirped his tune,
A melancholy song,
His head was down forever,
He did not belong,
Silence crisped the air,
Lasted seven minutes long,
And as the casket fell below
Harry still sung his song,
In his weeping mind
For only he to hear,
He heard his voice
Singing from ear to ear
The ones we love
Never truly leave us
One thump, it was over,
Dirt clumped over the hole
As visitors walked away
Harry stood without a soul
Nothing moved his body
Not Hermione or Ron
Not the hugs from his friends
He knew he did not belong
So Harry turned his cheek
Flushed and soaked in tears
Then walked across the dew
And held within his fears
Whenever someone loved him
They went away, far away,
Up into the clouds of white
And never saw another day,
His trenchcoat bloodied in mud
As it dragged into the ground
Harry walked a beaten path
Until he heard no sound
Everything was over now
His friends had left the grave
There was no one but him
And the dead he couldn't save
He crawled beneath a shadowy beast
An oak from the dark abyss
He closed his eyes and sang
And dreamt of Sirius
But his dreams were not
Just nightmares of him dying
So Harry awoke in a sweat
Not sweat, tears from him crying
In was dark and cold
Bitterness nipped his mind
No one could understand his pain
He was the only one of his kind
And in his weeping mind
For only he to hear,
He heard his voice
Singing from ear to ear
The ones we love
Never truly leave us
"Goodbye"
