*****Sango sat outside on a surprisingly flat hill. It was the middle of
the night and here she was sitting, and admiring the stars. The fireflies
danced around the hill and a light breeze blew against her fair skin. This
made her shiver. She often left whatever hut in which she and her friends
stayed the night in, so she could go outside and think. So she could clear
her mind of the depressing thoughts that filled it. She stared at the
stars. They were so beautiful, which made her smile, but deep down she was
not truly happy. She had never since smiled a truly happy smile, with a
hint of glee in her eye, ever since ... it happened. The incident that
changed her life ... that took her happiness.
"Kohaku," she was able to say, with a tear in her eye, before she fell into a light sleep.
*Dream Sequence*
Sango stood in a meadow, filled with lovely and colorful flowers. Kohaku came running to her, calling to his sister, with a smile on his face. Sango picked up a flower and gazed at its radiance. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the sky turned black, and a great wind blew around her. Sango dropped the flower, which turned into ash. She looked around to see that the meadow was now nothing but rubble. Then she turned to her little brother. She completely froze as she saw a great purple and black circle of wind surround him entirely. It was almost like a black hole. It started to suck him in.
"No... Sango," he cried.
"Kohaku," Sango screamed with great anger, and of course extreme despair. She ran to him, but the black wind kept pulling him back. Deeper he was pushed into the hole until suddenly, he was gone. Kohaku completely vanished into a hole of nothingness. All Sango heard were his calls quickly fading into the distance.
*End of Dream*
Sango awoke, quickly gasping for breath. She had tears dripping down her face, along with some drops of sweat.
"It was just a dream," she whispered. All he dreams had been like this, ever since it happened. Ever since her only brother, Kohaku, slaughtered their father and all their fellow demon exterminators. But, the Kohaku she knew would never do this. *He was a sweet and gentle boy. Maybe he should have never been a demon exterminator*, Sango thought as her eyes filled with tears. He had been controlled by Naraku. Naraku, she thought, that terrible beast... He had caused all her friends soo much pain. And he, of course, separated Sango from her brother. He made Kohaku betray her, and he still keeps him as a minion with no memory of his sister or his former life. He still controls him, making him kill people, too many people for Sango to count.
"Damn you, Naraku." To be continued...
