There was a huge boom. The movement in Sick Bay stopped almost immediately. It was like a war was upon us but silence fell and everyone moved outside to look.
To everyone's surprise, there was nothing to see. Though it felt like the apocalypse was coming, the sky was still as blue as ever. Whatever went off was not around here but there was a feeling of dread among us. There was something wrong somewhere. Something very wrong.
I remember standing there in confusion when he appeared out of nowhere. So many emotions swirling in his eyes. Fear, regret, pain... So many dark elements tearing him apart and I was terrified of him until I saw her.
She was limp in his arms and covered in blood. Her fiery red hair was wet and matted like he had fished her out of the sea. She looked broken and didn't just look it. She was. Whatever had happened to her had left her with one arm. It was a sight that haunts me even now.
After the shock, he begged me to help. He begged all of us to help and of course we did. We let him lay her down where she could rest. Standing close, I could see that her arm had already been dealt with. There were wires and fuse plates in her arm socket and at first, I believed he was the one who did it but he said it was her doing but the repair wasn't finished. He then proceeded to fuse a power core to the metal and carefully twisted the metal into her nerve endings. I was very overwhelmed by the sheer skill to survive and keep her alive but that was only a part of their survival story.
A nuke had blown their old home to bits and she was caught in the explosion. He had allowed her to try to disarm it and regret plagued him because she had gotten so badly hurt. When he managed to find her, he had to use so much power to keep her from bleeding out and her heart pumping. He told us how lucky it was that she had his Lifestone. Otherwise, she would have been gone before he could have found her. I didn't know what to think about these two. All I knew was they were fighting for each other and no one could bring them down.
Things wounded down. Her new arm was in place and he just sat by her side for days. No one bothered him as he stayed and left on his own time. She continued to get better until one day they left like they'd come. They didn't move far but their lives could move on. I wished them the best and I still do.
