"You're smiling."
The statement through him off-guard and he blinked at Marlene. She stared back with slight curiousity and yet, a knowing look in her eyes.
"I'm not allowed to smile?" he teased, ruffling her hair playfully. She scowled and jerked her head away. However, she soon smiled up at him again and shook her head.
"Of course you are. I've just noticed you're a lot happier recently," she replied. Cloud said nothing as he entered the kitchen and helped himself to some orange juice. Marlene watched him curiously for a few more minutes before she disappeared again. As he set the glass in the sink, he noticed a vase of yellow and white flowers. His fingers reached out to brush the petals tenderly, a small smile reaching his lips.
He wasn't afriad of being apart from Aerith anymore. After all, when he meets her in the Promised Land when his time has come, they'll have all eternity.
