Prospect

Detective Olivia Benson was finishing up the paperwork on her latest case when her wife, ADA Alexandra Cabot, came into the squad room. Olivia looked up from her paperwork and smiled. Alex leaned down and kissed her wife of three years and then leaned against her desk.

"Are you ready to go?"

"Yep, I just finished my last five."

"Good, let's go."

Olivia grabbed her coat, took her wife's hand, and led her out of the precinct towards home.

At the apartment, Alex poured two glasses of red wine and ordered Italian for dinner. While they waited, she decided to bring up the question that burned in her mind.

"Liv, do you want kids?"

"If you're offering, I want a LOT of kids."

Alex laughed. Olivia noticed her wife looked troubled. She pulled her into her arms and kissed her sweetly. Alex sighed, contentedly.

"What's going on in that beautiful head of yours?"

Alex looked at her.

"Nothing."

"It's not nothing. Lex, what's wrong?"

"If we were to have our own kids, would you want them vaccinated?"

Olivia knew this had to do with the Sierra Walker case. That case had a lot of parents questioning vaccinations. Olivia believed that the mother had a right to her choice even if it meant putting other children at risk. She never really thought about it, but now, faced with the prospect of having a child; it made her think about it. Alex had made it known that she was vehemently for vaccinations. Olivia took a little time before answering. Alex was fidgeting, worried about her answer.

"Liv, did you hear me?"

Olivia nodded.

"Alex, while I believe that Monica Stewart had the right not to vaccinate her son doesn't mean that I'm against vaccinations. Vaccines save lives every day and I would do it if it meant that our child would be healthy. Why?"

"Because I think I'm ready to try, if you are."

Olivia's face lit up. She pulled Alex to her and kissed her. When air became a necessity, she let up.

"I take it you're ready?"

"Oh, Lex, more than you know! When do we start?"

"I'll call the donor center tomorrow morning and have them send over a list of possible matches."

"That works for me."

Their dinner arrived and they talked while eating about their child and children, in general. After dinner was done, they took a shower together and then went to bed. Olivia wrapped her arms around Alex.

"Liv, I love you."

"I love you too, Alex."

Olivia kissed her wife again and soon both women were asleep, content with the idea of starting their own family.
