Author's Note's: Okay, trying out something here. I've recently gotten my hands on FF7, and already own AC and DoC, so I'm working with what little I know here, so forgive me if I fuck something up. Valenwind has become one of my new fixations, so I'm giving it a go. As always, flame away if you want too. I frankly don't care. Drabbly drabble here. Please review, I like knowing what you're thinking, even if it is just 'good job' or 'this thing is a POS'.
Disclaimer: Don't own the idea, am unlikely to ever own the idea, and I'm so broke I'm rococo, to use the joke. To sue me would be a waste of time and effort.
Valentine's Day
By: BlackLadyCharon
It's Valentine's Day when Vincent's born, laid in a cradle while the planet slowly turns towards an inevitable confrontation. It's Valentine's Day when he's accepted into the Turks, and it's Valentine's Day when he's sent to guard Lucrecia. It's Valentine's Day when he takes the bullet, and it's Valentine's Day yet again when he's locked away in that damned coffin. In fact, the only bad days of Vincent's life that haven't occurred on that date is the whole Meteor Crisis and the Remnants. Though if Kadaj had waited a week that would have been a different thing. Weiss and Deepground, yet again on Valentine's Day. Vincent would hate the day with all his might. But…
Plenty of good one's have happened on that day as well.
Cloud convinced him to leave his coffin on that day. Vincent shared his first kiss with an annoying loud and foul-mouthed pilot that day too. Cid gave him a ring three years after that. And five years after that, Vincent woke up, answered the door, and had two children dumped in his lap by a theoretically dead Aeris who told him they were the planet's gifts to her warriors who could not conceive naturally before vanishing again. That had been the biggest shock at least of his life. His and Cid's children got married in a double wedding on that day, and presented them their first grandchild then as well. Not necessarily in that order.
It's thirty years later, and on this Valentine's Day Vincent's standing in the Northern Crater, waiting for 11:45 P.M. to hit. The exact time one year before he came home and found Cid dead from a not entirely unexpected heart attack. What with the drinking and the smoking, a less numb part of Vincent was surprised Cid hadn't keeled over years before. The other's kept telling him to hang on, and he's tried, Gaia knows he's tried.
But it's been a year, and he knows he can't cope.
11:44:57. 11:44:58. 11:44:59. 11:45:00. And Vincent steps into the Lifestream thirty seconds before Cloud and the others can get there to stop him. The world fades away in a wash of light.
And a few centuries later, on Valentine's Day, Red XIII and his sons meet the two newest history students interested in that old crisis. Red ignores his sons' almost inaudible growls of curiosity and paces forward. Neither flinch, and he's pleased.
"A pleasure to meet new students. I am Red XIII." Both students smile, one a large and cocky grin, the other a small, mysterious curve of his lips.
"I'm Syd Ventus, frickin' pleased to meetcha."
"And I'm Vince Valentinus, the pleasure is mine."

This is probably such a mess, but I like it. On the last part, the last names I picked do mean something related to the originals. Ventus is Latin for wind, and Valentinus I believe is the saint that Valentine's Day is centered around originally, before it became a commercial holiday of buy the biggest and best gift one can for one's SO.
