It was an honor to serve under Hector, the best fighter in all of Troy. Nay, the best fighter of all the men on the battlefield, Trojan and Greek.
Tecton had served with the prince of Troy before. And now he was again, fighting to defend their home. Their country. Their beloved Troy.
Riding out with the Apolonian Guard, Tecton could see the entire battlefield. He could see Trojans dying. He could see Greeks dying. But it seemed for every Greek killed, ten more took the dead man's place. Greek ships could still be seen landing on the beach of Troy. Even more edged across the horizion, like waterbugs bearing death. Tecton didn't know how many there were, but as more and more became visible as he rode closer to the Temple of Apollo, his feeling of dread grew.
There were too many of them.
The golden statue of Apollo had lost its head to the man who'd nearly captured the Temple single-handed. The chanting of his name from the Greek ships could still be heard.
"Achillies! Achillies!"
Well, Greecian war hero or not, when Tecton got there he'd do the same thing to this "Achillies" as he did to the statue of Apollo. That is, if the sun god didn't take his vengance first.
Tecton would fight to the bitter end, would kill as many Greeks as humanly possible to defend his city. All he had to do was ride to the Temple. Then, he'd be able to kill. Then, he'd be able to get the action he longed for. Then, he'd be able to defend his home.
He would defend Troy 'till his last breath.
Tecton never saw the spear coming. He did feel it bury itself in his neck, and he did feel it cut his dreams of defending his home and his life short. He also felt landing on the not too soft sand.
Tecton knew he'd die all most instantly. Before he did, he realized what had happened.
The man, Achillies, had thrown a spear and killed him.
An impossible throw.
Seconds before his soul departed his body to the realm of Hades, he had one last thought.
It's not fair...
Sadly, I don't own any part of Troy. They belong to Homer and Warner Brothers.
This turned out shorter than I had wanted, but oh well. Tecton died all most instantly. Didn't leave much room for thinking.
