Finch paced anxiously in the living room of their safe house, knowing John had lost a lot of blood and there was nothing he could do to make him better. He simply hoped that the doctor Shaw called on the way here would arrive sooner than later.
"Sit down, Harold. Tough guy will pull through, and Elizabeth is coming soon."
Finch glanced at Root , who was sitting cozily on the couch "Elizabeth?"
"Elizabeth Hadley. The doctor Sameen called. They're BFFs .Though the fact Sameen has a female friend still surprises me .Anyways, the machine says she's in the building now ,relax.
All of a sudden, the doorbell rang and Finch hurried his way to answer the door.
"Hey, Sameen called. Is this the right place?"
"Yes, doctor. Please come in," Finch closed the door behind the young woman in a nice wind coat and led the way. "I don't mean to be rude, but the patient is running out of time and therefore, no time for us to exchange pleasantries."
""I understand, I'll do my best."
"This way, doctor." Finch opened the door for the doctor and Shaw looked up. "Hadley! Took you long enough. Help me out. My guy's dying."
"I will leave you to it, doctors." Finch gave a last glance at his friend before closing the door. John was pale and the sheets were drenched in his blood. Pained at the sight, Finch left and figured that there was something he can do to pass the time instead of waiting uselessly.
He went back to the living room to find that Ms. Groves has already left , but she was the least of his worries now. Finch entered Elizabeth Hadley in his computer to do a background check. Not that he doesn't trust Ms. Shaw 's judgement to find a descent, trust-worthy doctor, but right now it's the only thing he can do for John.
"Oh, dear." Finch was aghast after reading the young doctor's file. She was brilliant, of course, and was 5 years younger than her classmates at med school since she finished school sooner. She and Ms. Shaw were in the same med school, went to the same hospital to start her residency, and finished her training while Ms. Shaw didn't. But she also quitted a few months ago. There was a shooting at the hospital which killed 15 people, including Dr. Hadley's boyfriend. Finch tapped into the security footage and realized that Dr. Hadley's boyfriend, who was also a doctor, had in fact, died in her it was too painful and traumatizing to practicing again in hospitals, Dr. Hadley understandably had quit her job as a doctor to become a physical therapist and training assistant.
"Checking on my girl now, Finch?"
Finch nearly jumped to the sudden appearance of Ms. Shaw.
"Please don't do that, Ms. Shaw. And how is John now?"
"We stitched him up. Hadley's just finishing things up and she told me to give you an update. He'll pull through, but with lots of rest. Anyways, what have you dug up?"
"Dr. Hadley is undoubtably an incredible surgeon, but with a sorrowful past, I'm afraid."
"Okay, one, I wouldn't call her here unless I trusted her. Second, she knows what she's doing. Third, she took the shooting accident really hard, so don't mention anything about her dead boyfriend in front of her, or I will personally kick your ass, Finch."
Shaw gave Finch a hard stare and left to pour herself a drink.
"I am not you, Ms. Shaw, I certainly treat people with more care." Finch muttered quietly behind her.
