And as soon as his doorman opened the door for him, it was that sudden gust of wind that was proof that this was the reality he chose.

She wanted to say goodnight to him before he left, and with the soft click of her work heels, she walked to the break room. Beckett smiled inwardly at the sight in front of her once she reached the door, a familiar sight she loved seeing.

"You're not making one for yourself?" She asked when her partner handed her the small white cup, the simple shake of his head with that charming and easy-going smile on his handsome features. Subtly scanning the precinct, it looked as if no one was left, the Captain in her office excluded.

Their special moment was interrupted by Castle's clumsiness when he bumped into a corner and accidently kissed the skin underneath Beckett's left ear.

"I should, you know…" he simply trailed off and pointed in the direction of the lift, Beckett nodded with a tight smile and let him collect his jacket and phone from her desk and left without even a 'bye' or wave.

She just wasn't aware he wasn't ever going to return.
