CHAPTER I- Wait, you're a What?!

Standing atop a cliff overlooking Equestria, stood a Mysterious Male Unicorn wearing a black cloak, had dark grey color of fur and Horn while his Fauxhawk hair and long tail was colored a light shade of crimson and had Orange-colored eyes. Behind the Unicorn was a Fully-Grown Adult Dragon who had Blue-Eyes and white scales.

"I-I guess this is it…" The Male Unicorn started, "…Do you think I'll belong there? I mean I can always join you." He spoke. The White Dragon nodded, "Coalescence, You are a pony. Of course you will fit in among them…" The Dragon replied with a gentle tone "…I'm a Dragon and I believe I've taken you away from the place where you will fit in." He said.

"A-Are you really sure Thuuri?" The Unicorn asked, "…I-I mean do you remember? You've taken me under your wing for many moons now. I feel like I can't go on without you by my side." He said with a hint of sadness in his voice. "I don't want to go just yet."

Thuuri the White Dragon gave a small smile to the unicorn. "Yes, I still remember when you were still young…" He gave a soft chuckle "…But there is a time when I must let you go, for you have come of age." He spoke, "With these gems I've given you, I'm sure you'll do just fine. After all, some ponies desire gems that you have."

"If that's how you put it Thuuri, then I guess it's g-goodbye…" Coalescence began, "…I'll miss you so much…" He ran and embraced the dragon's tail. Thuuri in return wrapped the Unicorn with his wing "Don't be sad my child, But I believe you'll learn more alongside your kin rather than staying with me." Thuuri said with sincerity.

Releasing the dragon's tail, Coalescence wiped a tear from the corner of his eye "I'll never forget you, Thuuri. I promise that." He said, The dragon nodded in response. "Time is of the essence Coal, Be safe in your travels." He replied.

"Goodbye." Coal said before turning around and walking down the mountain path near the cliff. This was a beginning of a new chapter in his life. To become one with the other Ponies of Equestria.

As the Unicorn traveled for days with no rest, looking around his current location, Coalescence stopped at a nearby meadow to rest. It has been Three days of non-stop traveling for the Unicorn. Sitting down beside a fallen trunk, The Unicorn closed his eyes allowing sleep to catch him. A Few hours later, he awoke to see the moon in the night sky. Giving a sigh, the unicorn stood up and continued his journey.

As he walked, his stomach rumbled loudly forcing him to stop on his tracks. He knew he hadn't eaten anything in the past days but to drink water, He knew he needed to eat something soon or else it was gonna slow his travels. Looking around him he couldn't find a tree bearing fruit nor something that could actually be eaten. Knowing there was nothing he could do, Coalescence sighed and continued his journey.

After a day of endless traveling, Coalescence stopped at his tracks and looked down on a town. It had a huge apple orchard, A Tree House, a Huge round building in the center of the place, A Gingerbread house and a mansion made out of clouds. The Unicorn smiled to himself for he had found a Place to get some food. Running towards the town, The Unicorn looked at the scenery as he ran. As he looked around, a sign caught his attention. "Hmm… Ponyville…" He said to himself as he entered the town.

As He entered the town, his stomach rumbled once more causing the Unicorn to stop in his tracks. "Oh, excuse me!..." He called out to a pegasus walking towards his direction "… Do you know any place where I can get food here?" Coalescence asked. "Of course…" The Pegasus nodded "… I'd recommend that restaurant over there if you're looking for affordable and delicious food!" The Pegasus pointed to a Nearby restaurant that had tables on the outside.

"Thanks for the tip, Sir." Coalescence nodded before heading to the place. Arriving at said place, The Unicorn sat down on a nearby chair as he was approached by a white stallion which was the waiter.

"Here's the menu, Sir…" The Stallion passed a paper to the Unicorn. Coalescence looked at the list for a full minute before picking what food he'll be eating. "Have you made a decision, Sir?"the waiter asked,

"Yep, I'll take an Oat Burger with Hay Fries?" He replied, "…Oh one more thing, Do you accept gems as payment?" The Unicorn asked.

"I don't suppose we could see the said gem you'll use as payment." The waiter replied, Coalescence quickly pulled a big Diamond from his pouch hidden by his cloak. "I-I Suppose it will suffice." The waiter then took the Diamond. As the unicorn was left alone on his table, he pondered on how was he going to live a normal Pony life, after all… A Dragon had raised him. But his thoughts were quickly disturbed by ponies fleeing from the rain, Coalescence followed after.

Once the rain had stopped and him finishing his lunch, Coalescence left the café and went on to explore the town. As he walked around, he was also watching the ponies do their thing and admired the buildings. This town looked rather peaceful…

Reaching a bridge, He noticed the forest ahead was quite… Uncommon. "Excuse me, Ma'am… May I ask a question?" he said to an earth pony walking towards him, "Of course." She nodded, "…What's that forest?" He pointed to the forest in front of him, "That's the Everfree forest…" The Mare shivered, "Some ponies entered the forest and never came back… If I were you I'd avoid it completely." She spoke with a hint of fear present. "Oh okay, Thanks." Coalescence nodded. The two then went on their separate ways with Coalescence walking to the Everfree forest.

As he got near the forest, He could hear rustling of leaves even though there was no wind blowing from all directions. "I'll pass…" He said to himself before turning around and going back to the Town. As he walked back in town, he noticed it was dusk already. "Time sure flies when you don't mind it…" He chuckled to himself and continued to walk. Moments of walking, the unicorn stopped at an odd house. It was a tree house, with a sign saying it was a library. "A Library!" Coalescence said to himself, "Maybe I can find books here that'll help me adjust to the common Pony life…" He spoke as he walked over to the front door… He knocked on the door three times before a purple baby dragon with green spikes opened the door.

The sight of a Dragon in a Pony-filled town was quite surprising for the Unicorn, "Are you open for business today?" He asked, The Dragon nodded and allowed the Unicorn to enter, "My name is Spike by the way, nice to meet you uh…" The Dragon introduced himself, "Coalescence, but you can call me Coal…" The unicorn replied. "Can I also ask a question?" Coal asked earning a nod from the dragon, "What brings a dragon to this place?"

Spike smiled "Oh I actually live here with a Unicorn who I can call as my Big sister to be honest…" He began "Her name is Twilight Sparkle, She actually runs this place now and I'm her number one assistant!" He said proudly. Coalescence nodded "Also, how long have you known one another?" he asked, "Oh we've known each other ever since I was hatched." He replied, "Very well then, If you'll excuse me, I'm going to find a book now." He turned around and looked at the shelves, "Enjoy youself Coal, If you need help with anything, I'll be right here." Spike said. Coal found a book that caught his attention, the book was entitled 'A Beginner's guide to a good House management." Which the unicorn quickly grabbed, looking around once again, He saw another book that caught his attention. It was entitled 'A Beginner's guide to Spending your Bits wisely'. Grabbing the book with his magic, Coal walked over to a nearby desk and began to read.

As Moments passed, He heard the door open and slammed shut. Entered was a Purple Unicorn with a dyed Hair and Rumbling stomach. Coal quickly returned to the book he was reading but was interrupted by the Unicorn earlier, "Hi there, I'm Twilight Sparkle… and your name is?" The Purple unicorn asked, "I'm Coalescence but you can call me Coal." He introduced him self. "Not from town, are you?" She began to which Coal replied with a soft "Yup.".

"You see I also moved here to Ponyville yesterday…" She smiled sheepishly, "Can I ask you something?" she said, Coal nodded as a response, "Where are you from?..." This quickly caused the Male Unicorn to flinch, he was caught off guard. "H-How do I put this?..." He said to himself, "…All I know was I used to stay near Manehattan before I got adopted by my Father…" He replied, "Do you know where you and your Father used to live?" She asked with a smile… Coal gave a sheepish laugh, "W-Well you see uh, the thing is, My Father, well foster father is… a… Dragon." He smiled nervously. Twilight was shocked alongside her assistant standing beside her, "A D-Dragon?!" Spike said stammering. Coal only replied with a nod. "S-So what brings you here to Ponyville?" Spike asked. "…Well he did say that I came of age and Wanted me to live a normal Pony life… And Ponyville's the First Town I've encountered for the past few Days." Coal replied. Before any of the two could reply, The Front door to the building opened with force and entered was Three Mares. One was a Pink Earth Pony with a puffy Pink Mane and Tail, The Other was a Unicorn with white Fur and A Curly Purple Mane and Tail and the last being a Yellow Pegasus with a Pink Mane and tail.

Twilight flinched and screamed "I can't decide! I just can't decide! It is important to all of you and I just can't stand to disappoint any of you, and giving me some gifts and doing me favors won't make any difference because you're all my friends and I want to make you all happy and I can't! I just can't!"

Entered from behind was a Orange Mare with a Blonde yellow Mane and tail also was wearing a Hat. "Twilight, sugar. I didn't mean to put so much pressure on you. And if it helps, I don't want the ticket anymore. You can give the ticket to some pony else. I won't feel bad. I promise."

"Me too." The Yellow Pegasus stepped forward, "It feel just awful that I just made you feel awful." She said in a soft voice. The White Unicorn stepped towards Twilight, "Twilight, it was unfair of me to try to force you as I did." And A Blue Pegasus with a Rainbow colored mane and tail shouted "YES! THAT MEANS THE TICKET IS MINE!" The Four quickly glared daggers at the Blue Pegasus hovering above them, "You know… I haven't perfected my signature move for the wonder bolts anyway… I don't need that ticket either." She quickly said when she noticed the looks she was given.

"Uhh, I hate to break the moment but… What was the ticket for?" Coal asked curiously, The White unicorn stepped closer to Coal, "That ticket was for the Grand Galloping Gala, the greatest event in all of Pony History!" She said dramatically, Coal was still curious, "What's a Grand Galloping Gala?" He said with a smile.

The White Unicorn quickly broke from her pose, "Y-You don't know what's The Grand Galloping Gala?" she said with a tone of shock evident in her voice. "Yup." Coal nodded. "By the way, I really haven't seen you around here before… Are you new here?" The Orange Mare said to Coal as she stepped closer to the Grey Unicorn. "Yup, It's my first time here!" Coal said with a smile, "Howdy, I'm Applejack…" The orange mare introduced herself, "I'm sure You've met Twilight already…" Coal nodded as a reply to this, "Well the other Unicorn here is Rarity, That timid yellow Pegasus right there is Fluttershy, the other Pegasus is Rainbow Dash, and the Pink Earth Pony right there is Pinkie Pie." She Introduced the group.

"Hi there, I'm Coalescence but you can call me Coal!" Coalescence introduced himself, Pinkie Pie gasped causing her to float into the Air before running out the Library, "W-What was that all about?" Coal asked baffled, "That's just regular Pinkie Pie, she'll be back…" Applejack said. "Okay….. I hope you ponies won't mind if I took my cloak off, They'll give me a sore back if I don't stretch them…" He laughed sheepishly before beginning to remove his cloak.

"Sure thing, Everypony needs to stretch… their… backs… from… time to time…" Applejack's jaw dropped along with the rest, "They sure give me the most painful experiences if I leave them closed for a long time… So I flap them from time to time…" Coal gave a short laugh before noticing the expressions he was being given, "Is everything okay?"

"Y-You're a…" Applejack stammered, "I'm a what?..." Coal replied confused, "YOU'RE AN ALICORN!!!" Pinkie Pie shouted from behind the Alicorn, causing him to Jump. "I-I Can't believe It…" Twilight started, "There's another Alicorn in Equestria…" The Purple Unicorn bowed infront of Coal. Prompting the rest to follow, "Whoa, Whoa whoa… Spare the formalities everypony and you too Spike, I-I'm not of Nobility." He rubbed his mane.

"Y-You're an Alicorn…" Spike said with a hint of surprise in his voice, "What about me being an Alicorn?" Coal asked full of confusion. "Spike, Take a note." Twilight said…

"Dear Princess Celestia,

I've learned that one of the joys of friendship is sharing blessings, but when there's not enough blessings to go around, having more than your friends can make you feel pretty awful… so… though I appreciate the invitation, I am returning both tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala.

"WHAT!" The every pony (excluding Coal) exclaimed…

"Also, a special pony has entered our doorstep, His name is Coalescence and he's an Alicorn! But he doesn't know anything about Equestria and said he was raised by a Dragon!"

"What was that for?" Coal asked confused, Spike opened a window and burned the letter. "Why was I involved in the letter?" The Alicorn asked, Before anypony else could respond, Spike Burped a letter.

"A letter from the princess? That was fast!" Twilight exclaimed. Spike grabbed the letter and opened it to read it. "My faithful student, Twilight. Why didn't you say so in the first place?" the Dragon read the letter. He quickly grabbed something popped out of the letter. "Six tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala!" He cried.

He then burped another letter, "Dear Twilight, I'm intrigued by the last part of your letter. I'd very much would like to meet Coalescence. Is he available tomorrow, because I would wish to meet this Alicorn." Spike read, he then grabbed another ticket that popped out of the Letter, "And A Ticket for Spike." He said smiling.

"Are you available tomorrow, Coal?" Twilight asked to which the Alicorn replied with a simple Nod. "Well Pardon me but I really must go now, It's getting late and I need to find a place to stay and one in which I can barter with the Keeper…" Coal said standing up from his seat, "Barter?" Twilight asked confused, "Yup. Barter. I don't have the currency you Ponies use, only Gems given to me by my Father." He showed a bag containing gems to the Unicorn.

Spike looked at the Bag with Awe, "Gems…" He said as he drooled. "Please Coal, you can stay with us for the night!" Twilight said with a smile, "Oh please Twilight, Coal can definitely stay with me on the Boutique!" Rarity quickly added, "Nuh-Uh, You can stay with me for the night Coal!" Rainbow Dash joined.

"Ladies, I'm grateful for the offer but I really should look for a place to stay now…" He said nervously, "Well my offer still stands Coal. And I won't take no for an answer." Rarity persuaded, the Alicorn sighed and could nodded, "If you insist. Thank you." He said with sincerity.

Coalescence and Rarity soon made their way to the Boutique, The White Unicorn then unlocked the front door and the two made their way inside. Turning the lights on inside, Coalescence looked around in Awe. "This is a beautiful place you've got here, Much better looking than the Cave I used to stay at." He laughed, "Why thank you, go make yourself at home. I'll ready the spare room for you. I won't be long." Rarity said as she made her way upstairs.

As soon as Coal was left alone, The Alicorn looked at the mannequins that were wearing different stylish dresses. "Wow." The Alicorn mouthed, "Coal, your room is ready! Just go up the stairs." Rarity called out, "Coming!" Coal replied as he made his way up the stairs. The Grey Alicorn saw Rarity entering a room to which he followed. "This is your room, if you need anything don't be afraid to knock on my room. It's just down the Hall." Rarity said as she exited the room. "Well there is one thing..." Coal said to the unicorn before she could close the door, "Hmm, What is it?" Rarity asked, "What's that?" Coalescence quickly pointed to the bed. "That's a Bed, Darling. It's where you rest. You should lie down on it." She said, Coal nodded before laying on the bed, "T-This feels nice…" he smiled. "Much better than laying on a pile of leaves." He laughed. "Well if that's all then I'll be on my room. Good Night." Rarity closed the door as well as the Lights, leaving The Alicorn alone with his thoughts.

'Who is Princess Celestia and what does she want with me?' The Alicorn thought to himself before he closed his eyes and allowed himself to go to sleep.

When Coalescence awoke, he rolled to his side and saw a cat staring at him blankly earning a flinch from the Alicorn. "Hey there…" He said as he sat up. Stretching his hooves and yawning, Coalescence got out of the bed and began to make his way to the stairs. As Coalescence was on the ground floor, he saw Rarity looking around using her magic to hold a bowl filled with food. "Good morning Coalescence…" She bowed, "Have you seen Opal, my pet Cat?" she asked.

"Oh, She's upstairs. By the way, Thanks for letting me stay the night here." Coalescence thanked the Mare. "Oh no problem, the pleasure is mine your Highness." She replied, "Please, I'm no Noble. Just your simple, uncommon, Pony." Coalescence said humbly. "And here's something to repay you…" Coalescence passed a Ruby to the Mare, "Consider it as a gift." He nodded, "Oh, please keep it! I expect nothing in return." Rarity said quickly, "That's why it's a Gift, Rarity. I insist." Coalescence smiled. "Oh well then, Thank you, Coal." She smiled. "No problem, For now I must go. I need to find a way to go to Princess Celestia… Wherever she is." Coalescence said sheepishly. "….Oh and also get my cloak back." He said as he walked to the front door. "Thank you once again, Rarity." He said before closing the front door.

As the Alicorn walked to Twilight's Library, he couldn't help but notice the looked he was receiving from other Ponies in Ponyville. The look of shock, excitement and fear (maybe?) was evident on their faces. As he reached the Library, he knocked on the door three times before the door was opened by Spike. "Good Morning, Coal!" Spike greeted, "Good morning too, Spike! Have I left my cloak in here?" He asked, "Yup, it's right inside!" Spike gestured for the Alicorn to enter the library. Coal saw the Cloak on a cloth racked and walked over to it.

"Good morning, Coal!" Twilight greeted the Alicorn, "Morning Twilight. Can I ask for directions?" Coalescence asked the Mare, "Sure. Where are you headed to?" She asked with a smile, "What's the fastest route to Princess Celestia?" He asked as he wore the Cloak once again. Before Twilight could reply, A Chariot being dragged by Two White Pegasi wearing Golden Armor landed infront of the Library. "I believe that is your route to Princess Celestia, Coal." Twilight said.

The Three walked outside to the Chariot, "Are you Coalescence?" One of the Pegasi asked. "Yes I am." The Alicorn replied earning a bow from the two pegasi. "Princess Celestia wished to meet you, Your Highness." One of the Pegasi stated. "Please, Spare the formalities. I'm not of Nobility." He said climbing the Chariot. "Sorry Sir, but it's because you're an Alicorn." One replied.

Once the Chariot began to fly, Coalescence looked at the ground to see Spike and Twilight waving at him, to which he waved back. Looking back to the front of the Chariot "Where are we headed into?" Coalescence asked, "To Canterlot, Sir." The two replied in unison.

And in the Horizon came into view, a City built on the Side of a Mountain overlooking all of Equestria. Coalescence gave a look of awe at the City.

As the Chariot landed, Coalescence was greeted by a White Unicorn wearing a Grey Uniform with purple trims and Behind him was A group of guards wearing the same Golden Armor as the Pegasi which escorted him here, The White Unicorn with grey armor was the group's leader. Stepping off the Chariot, Coal walked over to the Leader, "Greetings your Highness…" The Unicorn bowed prompting the other guards to bow as well, "I'm Shining Armor, Captain of the Royal Guards. At your service." The Unicorn introduced himself. "I'm Coalescence, but you can call me Coal!" He offered the captain a hoof-shake. "Princess Celestia is waiting for you at the Castle's throne room…" Shining Armor said, "The Two guards over there will take you to the princess." He spoke. "Very Well then." Coal said nodding before joining the two guards to the Throne room.

Once He reached the throne room he saw A White Alicorn with flowing rainbow-like hair sitting at the throne and giving him a soft smile. Once the guards left the room, Coalescence cleared his throat, "Greetings, your Majesty." He Bowed, "…It's an honor to meet you." He stated. "Same to you Coalescence." She bowed her head. "Shall we begin?"

"Of course, can I ask a question first?" Coalescence asked to which the Princess nodded in reply, "W-Why do the other Ponies bow at me like I'm a noble? I-It's quite the conundrum." He stated, "It's because you're an Alicorn young Coalescence." She stated, "The Alicorns are immortal ponies who act as the Guardians of all Ponies… And since you are an Alicorn, the other ponies treat you like an Alicorn. A guardian who protects them." She replied with a humble tone.

"B-But I'm no Noble, I never was." He Began "I-I was just a regular pony before being adopted by my father, who is a Dragon. And The only reason I'm here now was because I came of age… And I'm still trying to adjust to normal Pony life. And everyone's treating me like a Prince. Even though I'm not."

"After this, you will become one." Celestia stated blunty,

"W-What now!?" Coal replied baffled as what he heard. "After this conversation, You shall become a Prince." Celestia stated. "No! No way I'm becoming a prince just because I'm an Alicorn!" Coalescence shot back, "You did say that Alicorns are guardians, right?" He asked.

"What are you getting at?" Celestia asked filled with curiosity. "Let me prove myself that I am worthy to be called a Prince." He smirked, "…After all, I have a few tricks up my sleeve." Princess Celestia was caught off guard by the Male Alicorn's response at the situation, "And what are this said tricks?" She asked. Coalescence smirked and removed his cloak.

"My Father didn't call me Coalescence for nothing!" Princess Celestia saw on the Alicorn's Flank was a Spiral that has two colors; Orange and Yellow. This was intriguing. The Grey Alicorn quickly cast a spell causing an Orange Aura to glow on his horn which then Created Flames on his Hooves. Princess Celestia was about to say something but was Stopped when Coalescence removed the flames from his hooves and Ignited his Wings, Mane and Tail with flames. "If you still don't know what my Abilities are, I can fuse with other elements!" He said with a smile.

Extinguishing the Flames around him, he walked forward and bowed in front of the Princess, "Princess Celestia, What must I do to earn the Title of Prince?"
