Chapter 1: Rain

It was raining as the hooded figure silently walked. But this wasn't a surprise; it always rained in the Dark City, the tall buildings on either side of the street acting like walls in a never ending labyrinth. As the figure looked ahead the towering presence of memory skyscraper dominated the sky, its numerous televisions showing past events and the memories of those who looked at them.

From the unseen alleys and backstreets between the buildings the neo-shadows were preparing to attack, they had no reason to want to destroy the hooded figure but they were Heartless and had no mind to think of a reason.

The hooded figure walked on unperturbed even when the neo-shadows tore out of the alleys, claws raised ready to strike down on their pray, they were ready to kill. They inched ever closer to the man, the mindless instinct of slaughter overwhelming them becoming their entire being they were ready to fight to the destruction if necessary. They had surrounded the figure on all sides, each one picking where they would strike, the throat, the lungs, the heart. They were poised on the brink of slaughtering.

Then, time slowed to crawl, an invisible force suddenly took hold of them forcing them back against there will. A spherical blast of what felt like a brick wall emitted from the figure, the very ground beneath the neo-shadows was under the same force as well being torn and destroyed at the same speed as the heartless themselves, the rain stopped falling within that area but instead slid off as if there was a dome there.

The neo-shadows crashed into the sides of the other buildings but still this force kept pushing and crushing them against the wall, they could feel the wall about to give way, cracks were appearing rapidly the wall was buckling. But the force just stopped, it evaporated and went away. The neo-shadows collapsed unable to continue their assault, some of them disappearing back into the darkness from whence they came.

The hooded figure took no notice of this he just wanted to keep them out of his way they weren't important, he though that they were so pitiful that wiping them out was the best thing for them, they would just reform and attack him again so better now than later.

He raised his arm opening one of the corridors of darkness; its glowering dark presence would have made any person be stricken with fear, he wasn't a person, he wasn't even a somebody, he was a Nobody, he wasn't even have meant to exist. He stopped and turned round taking a note of what damage he had caused, the whole area was a crater with debris scattered around the outside except for an unhindered straight path right down the middle, the rain had come back gain to that area and was draining into the crater.

He looked up, 'I am gonna miss the rain, I like it' he knew that the place that he was going to was going to be hot, he felt irritated when hot. A huge feat for someone without a heart. He turned back to the corridor of darkness and set off for the Destiny Islands. The corridor closing after him, in a flash of darkness.
