Stuck In The Tomb
Caroline was making her way to the tomb of the Salvatores. She had just heard that the two brothers had succeeded in capturing Klaus. With a little help from Rebekah, well understood, who loved to see her brother go rather than stay.
Caroline had now arrived at her destination and looked through the bars. She had to gasp when she saw Klaus. He was not looking good, to say the least.
At the sound of that gasp Klaus turned his head. "Oh, my love." he said. "Are you coming here to check if I'm actually dying?"
"No." Caroline responded firmly. "And will you stop calling me love all the time? It gets annoying." Klaus smiled his irresistible smile. Yes, irresistible. Caroline definitely felt something for Klaus, she just didn't want to admit it. Not to herself and for sure not to him. She snapped out of it when she heard Klaus's voice.
"Then why are you here, Caroline?"
She sighed. Even the way he said her name… She forced herself to stop thinking about that and answer him. "Because," she said slowly, "I can't let you die. If you die, then Tyler dies along with you and I can't let that happen. I love him." When she said that, she knew she was lying. To herself and to her. But she knew that it was the only way. She couldn't allow to feel something for him. It was wrong. He was the original hybrid. He has done so many bad things to her friends.
She opened the door of the tomb and reached her hand out for him, in it she held a blood bag. "Here." she said. "This will help you to feel strong enough to leave the woods. You have to be fast and leave Mystic Falls, as far away as you can. Make sure that no one finds you. I won't always be there to save you."
Klaus smirked. "I'm the big bad hybrid, Caroline. I can't be caught that fast."
"I can see that." Caroline said dryly.
Suddenly they heard the crack of a twig. They quickly turned their head only to see… Damon Salvatore. Caroline stood before Klaus so that Damon wouldn't see the blood bag he was sucking on. She hoped that it would be empty soon enough to make him escape. She would die anyway.
"Well, well, well." Damon said. "What a pleasant surprise to find you here, Caroline. I was certain you would be with Tyler, to support him in his last moments. But yet, here I find you, with our biggest enemy. What do I have to think about that?"
"Nothing." she uttered. "I'm just trying to save my boyfriend's life. That is not a crime, last time I checked." she said that with more courage than she actually felt. Come on Klaus, she thought, do something, get out of here, so that this mess is over. Then suddenly she felt a breeze behind her and she knew that Klaus had stood up. She exhaled heavily, happy that Tyler's life was saved. No, she immediately thought, you're happy that Klaus's life is saved. Then she heard Klaus groan "Nobody messes with Caroline!"
He rushed past her and quickly broke Damon's neck, who was too shocked to even do anything.
For a moment, they just stood there, next to each other, not saying a word. Then Caroline said "What was that all about?"
"What?"
"About that he couldn't mess with me…" She was afraid to say that. She thought that she would've crossed a line. But Klaus looked at her and responded "I would die if anyone would mess with you. You saved me today. I owe you lifelong gratitude for that." Caroline looked in his baby blue eyes and she stopped breathing for a moment. Before she knew it, his soft but strong lips had touched hers.
At that moment, Caroline didn't care about anyone or anything. All she could feel was the feeling of Klaus's lips on her. And it was the best feeling she had felt for a long time.
