The giving veil
Summary: Throughout wizarding history the veil has been known to take the lives of criminals pushed in and idiots who slipped. Sirius Black is one lucky wizard to fall and live to tell the tale.
Warnings: story will have slash in later chapters (sasunaru and hints of itarry); wizard bashing, mainly focused on Dumbledore (for now); time flows differently between the gateway (the veil); and more slash!
Intro
The veil is such a peculiar creature, yet no witch or wizard knew anything about her. She has existed for eons watching humanity at its highest and lowest. As such she knew all about Tom Riddle and his horcruxes. She cried for him every time she saw him. He was once human transformed into a hateful tool ruled by the machinations of an arrogant old man. It was thanks to his kind that she exists yet all anyone saw was a veil. She was an item reeking of death with only a one way ticket to offer.
If only they knew. For a select few she was a gateway to freedom. She existed for the damned and the beaten. The usurpers would hear silence while her children would hear a haunted voice echoing their sorrows. The joys they knew were always overshadowed by pain. It was beacon to her, always moving but never too close. If only they would come closer. She would take them into her, like a loving mother with reassuring whispers, and lead them to another world. A world where they would never be forsaken and always cherished.
But sadly, the foolish wizards though it safer to hide her away. One too many slipped and fell into her upon discovery in the 1600's. Since then she has only been able helped one child. It's been so long that all she remembers now were pain filed pupil less eyes. Three beacons cut her musings short. She was so lost into the past that she didn't feel them until they were right in front of her. Just as suddenly as they appeared they are joined by another. She could have wept for joy in that moment. She knew she couldn't save them all, but she would take what she could. Now all she had to do was wait for them to come closer. It was luck that made Bellatrix use a stunner than a curse. Now she could help Sirius Black, just like the little girl all those years ago.
