A/N: So, don't ask me where this came from only that I think it's funny that everyone has these long stories about this dramatic backstory as to why Turkey wears a mask and wondered what it would be like if he wore it for something trivial.

That, plus there aren't enough TurGre fics in this world.

I think I might write something to accompany this...

Warning: Genderbending Ahead

There were many speculations among the nations as to why Turkey wore a mask.

The former ottoman colonies had been asked but Hungary and Iceland hadn't been owned by Greece for long enough to know and even Egypt was in the dark.

That left the obvious: Greece.

But, as everyone was aware, Greece was a generally lazy person who much preferred snoozing with a cat to gossiping. Whenever anyone asked the cat-loving Greek, she would simply reply that it was because Turkey was a stupid bastard and leave it at that.

So, the theories grew.

Because most of them involved Greece, the Grecian found them rather funny.

One such theory was that Turkey had gotten a terrible scar on his face when Greece was under his control (possibly while protecting the small nation, but the guesses varied) and wore the mask to cover it.

Turkey thought this one made him sound like the Phantom of the Opera, and Greece would joke that that would make her Christine. The question then arose who Raul would be, debating between Japan and Egypt. Turkey got over protective halfway through Japan's likenesses and the night that followed was fantastic even if Greece walked funny for the next few days.

Another theory was that Turkey was old and only wore the mask to cover his wrinkles.

Greece rather liked this theory and would mention it every so often, just to make Turkey take off his mask to prove that damn Greek wrong.

The resulting make-out was usually worth the provocation.

A few days later, Turkey pointed out that although it's not his reason for wearing one, masks are down right comfortable and had anyone considered that maybe that was why he wore it?

Greece teased him for the following days about being a hypocrite because they both knew that wasn't why he wore the mask.

But the third most prominent theory was that Greece had wounded the Turk in her younger years and he wore the mask because he was too embarrassed to admit that he had been wounded by his former charge.

Greece was in favor of this theory but Turkey insisted that he would never have been wounded by such a wimpy child.

The argument that followed lasted all of ten minutes until Greece threatened not to sleep with her partner for a week and Turkey pointed out that she couldn't.

Greece, never one to admit defeat, insisted that she could and so a deal was struck.

At the meeting the next day, all of the countries were extremely confused to find Greece awake and on the far end of the room from a pouting Turkey.

Egypt seemed to know what was going on but refused to tell and Japan just shook his head.

During one of their breaks, Japan approached his friend and when he asked all he received as a reply was, "He's shy! Shy, dammit! That's the only reason!"

After this, Japan decided not to continue the conversation and left a very frustrated Greek to her own devices, no matter dangerous that might be.
