There she sat, on the swing set. Rick kneeling in front of her with a beautiful ring in his hand, asking a question that would change their lives for good. "Katherine Houghton Beckett, will you marry me?"

She had to tell him that she took the job, but she wanted to be with him so bad. She would tell him, yes she would. But first she wanted to say yes. Yes, the answer that would change it all. But still there was this feeling in her stomach, how are they even going to get through this. They have so many things that they need to talk about, but they never did. Maybe it won't work out, maybe they don/t work, maybe they're not made for each other. She hates herself for thinking this, she loves the man. But she knew it was true, she know they have problems they need to talk about first. Kate felt tears coming into her eyes, but she blinked them away, turning her head to Rick who was still on one knee. She saw the hope in his eyes fade, she could always just look into his eyes and feel the love. But this time was different. He had this hope in his eyes, the hope that she'd say yes and that they could work their problems out just the way they'd have to, to work this out. She opened her mouth and then closed it again. She looked him in the eye and smiled. "Yes, I want to marry you Rick."

Rick stood up and put the ring on her finger. Perfectly fitting on her finger. She admired it. The beautiful silver ring with a sparkling diamond in the middle. "It's so beautiful, Rick." She feels her heart beating faster than ever. She looks into his blue eyes and leaned in for a kiss. The kiss felt like the first night all over again. It's deep, loving and wanting. And before the kiss would turn out in something else that's not very appropriate on the playground, they pulled back staring in each other's eyes. "I love you." Rick said.

"I love you too." She said dreamy.

"We better go home, detective."

"Yeah, we should go home." Kate said, lost in his eyes and still amazed from everything that happened that day.

She opened her eyes sleepily, when she saw Rick staring at her with a smile on his face, holding a plate with two cups of coffee, pancakes and today's newspaper.

"Hey." She smiled.

"Hey sleepy head." He said, sitting next to her on the bed, giving her a sweet kiss on the lips. Oh, he always loved so much to kiss her. It's amazing, even after all this time.

She looked at her hand. It really is a beautiful ring. While she's staring at the ring she feels this bad feeling in her stomach. She still has to tell him she took the job and she really didn't know how to tell him.

"What's wrong?" Rick said while looking at her with this concerned expression on his face.

"Nothing.. I..I just. The ring. It's so beautiful."

"It's not the ring, is it?" He said. She didn't say anything. He looked her in the eye and saw this fear in her eyes, the expression that he had seen a lot of times. But this time was different.

"I need to tell you something, Rick."

So, this is my first fanfiction. I'm not sure if I should go on with this story, so please comment. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed. English isn't my first language, so if there are any faults in it, I'm sorry. ;)
