Russia

A Romanogers one-shot inspired by the song Austin by Blake Shelton.

I recently reheard the song Austin by Blake Shelton. It got me thinking what if this was about Steve and Natasha. If you never heard the song I recommend listening to it first. I hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer: I do not own the song Austin or Captain America or Black Widow.

She left with a kiss on the cheek. Said she needed new covers.

He figured she went back to Russia, back to her roots.

It was a couple of years before she called him up.

Three rings and an answering machine is what she got.

If you're calling about the painting, I sold it.

If this is Tuesday night I'm sparring.

If Stark set you up with me, I'm sorry, but you're wasting your time. I'm not dating.

If it's anybody else, wait for the tone, you know what to do.

P.S. if this is Russia, I still love you.

The phone fell from her hand. She heard but she couldn't believe.

Why would he hang on that long for someone like her? What kind of love that must be.

She waited three days, and then she tried again.

She didn't know what she'd say. But she heard three rings and then.

If it's Friday night, I'm at the Dodgers' game.

And first thing Saturday, if the world doesn't need saving, I'm heading out to look for Bucky, and I'll be gone all weekend long.

But I'll call you back when I get home on Sunday afternoon.

P.S. if this is Russia, I still love you.

This time she left her number but not another word.

Then she waited by the phone on Sunday evening.

And this is what he heard.

If you're calling about my heart, it was always yours.

I should of listen to it more.

And it wouldn't taken me so long to know where I belong.

And by the way Cap, this is no machine you're talking to.

Can't you tell? This is Russia, and I love you.

Epilogue: 1 year later,

"I love you." Natasha whispers while Steve leans down to kiss her. The crowd around them starts applauding when they kiss. They turn, him in a dress uniform and her in a white dress, as the priest announces, "introducing Mr. and Mrs. Steven Rogers. As they walk down the aisle to the limo, Steve whispers in Natasha's ear "I love you." They walk out the door and into the rest of their lives together.

A/N

In this Steve tells Natasha that he loves her at the graveyard.
