Wave to the grass

"Ally? You up here?" Austin called.

"Up here..." I tried hard to keep my voice from cracking. Two days ago, was my dads funeral. He had died of cancer. I felt tears trickle down my face as I remebered him.

"You ok?" Austin asked me.

I shook my head. "Not now, but I will be." I answered truthfully. " Im just remembering all the things he did for me, especially the weird ones."

"Why dont you tell me somethings. I hear it helps to talk." Austin said.

"Alright, well when I was five and I got upset, he would take me to the park, and we would stay there for hours and make up stories about the trees and the animals. Then when I turned ten, he would blast the weirdest music, and we would do our craziest moves and I would always leave feeling more confident. Then when I was fourteen, we would walk in the middle of the street, and pretend we were in a parade, and we would wave to the grass, and pretend they were little people lined up just to see us. Then last year, when he got sick, we would watch cartoons, hours and hours of them. Now,...now..." my voice cracked.

"Now, you have me, and your dad will always be with you. He told you that, he promised. Your dad is nothing if not a man of his word." I looked up at Austin, I was touched by his words. I couldn't resist the urge to kiss him, and there we were, kissing in the moonlight, with me crying my eyes out, and Austin comforting me. I looked up at the sky, and saw a star, it was bright and big, and I smiled. That was my dad up there shinning down on us, and I got the meaning.

" Hey Austin?" I asked " How would you feel about a midnight parade? Theres a lot of grass to wave at this time of night."

A/N: I know the ending wasnt very good, but I felt this one. Thanks again to my first reviewers!
