Before beginning, I will say only this.

Anyone who complains about the length or implies that I did not put any effort into writing this gets a shovel to the head.

So, enjoy.

They are in a vast field, filled with trees that are covered with bright pink cherry blossoms. A light breeze blows gently through the field, carrying stray petals through the air.

She is running between the trees, and he is running behind her, breathing hard, his hand outstretched as he reaches for her.

"Cosmo!" he cries out. "Cosmo, wait up!"

He makes a grab for her, but misses.

She is just out of reach.

"Cosmo! Wait!"

With an effort, he reaches further, and his fingers close around her arm.

"Cos—"

His shout is cut off as a brilliant beam of energy shoots down from the sky and hits Cosmo dead-on. His horrified cry mixes with her scream of pain, and for a moment, the whole world is blanketed in blinding light.

When the light clears, he is kneeling on the ground, surrounded by fallen cherry blossom petals. His blue eyes, painted with shock, can see a small white seed lying on the ground among the flowers.

Tears begin to stream down his cheeks, and his hands hit the ground, clenching into shaking fists as he lifts his face to the heavens, crying out her name.

He wakes up in a cold sweat, a scream tearing from his throat. His eyes are wide as he looks wildly around the dark room.

"Cosmo?" he whispers, his voice hoarse.

No one answers him, and he sinks back onto his bed, moaning with pain, and it takes a long time before he drifts back into a fitful sleep.

There, see? That wasn't too bad. I try to make these things painless.

Well, painless for you. Very painful for the characters in the story.

RRE.
