Around her head
She wore a yellow ribbon
She wore it in the spring time
In the early month of May
Tsukasa Hiiragi, a girl who just entered her senior year. Her boyfriend, an American named David Jackson, had left to join the United States Marine Corps. earlier that year, and had left her the gift of a yellow ribbon.
And if you asked her
Why the hell she wore it
One of her classmates walked up to her after school, asking her "Hey, Tsukasa, why the hell do you where that yellow ribbon all the time?"
She wore it for the young Marine
Whose far, far away
(Far Away, far away, away, away! She wore it for young Marine whose far, far away!)
"Uhm...Well you see, earlier this year, my b-boyfriend had enlisted in the US Marines...And before he left, he gave me the ribbon..." Tsukasa explained, thinking about her boyfriend. Black hair, blue eyes, tall, kinda tan (born NY, lived in CA). Yeah, he was handsome like hell.
Around the block
She pushed a baby carriage
By now, the two lovers had exchanged tons of letters. It was nearly a month after graduation for Tsukasa, and a month after David was deployed in Northern Iraq.
She pushed it in the springtime
In early month of May
For the past month, Tsukasa had been pushing around a small baby carriage. When David came back, she hoped for them to move to a nicer city than Saitama. The city was nice, but there were smaller towns nearby better for starting a family.
And if you asked her
Why the hell she pushed it
A passerby noticed Tsukasa pushing around the baby carriage, and walked up to her to ask "Hello me, might I ask why the hell you pushing around an empty baby carriage?"
She pushed it for the young Marine
Whose far, far away
(Far away, away, she pushed it for the young Marine whose far, far away!)
"Well, before I finished high school, my boyfriend had enlisted in the United States Marine Corps., and when he gets back, I hope we can start a family together!" Tsukasa answered cheerfully.
The passerby let our a small chuckle. "I pray that your friend makes it back home safe!"
Behind the door, her daddy
Kept his shogun
Yeah, Tado had a strange distrust of Americans sometimes. Who knows why? Hiroshima and Nagasaki, maybe? The United States bases around Japan? And thus, he kept a small shotgun near his door.
He kept it in the springtime
In early month of May
Tsukasa had received a letter saying David was being sent back early to sustaining a injury in his left arm thanks to an IED. The news was good and bad, and her sisters and parents decided to have a mini-celebration that Scott had not been KIA. When he got back to Japan, due to a lack of proper supplies, he was stuck in the US. (Semper fi, do or die, right? OORAH!)
And if you asked him
Why the hell he kept it
Kagami, Tsukasa's fraternal twin, had found the shot gun and nearly shouted, "DAD! WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU HAVE A SHOTGUN?!"
He kept it just to blow
That young Marine's ass away!
(Away, away, just to blow that young Marine's as away!)
"Just in case that young Marine tries anything!" He reassured her.
Kagami pouted at her father. "Really dad? You know him, that only thing he's done bad is had to kill someone to keep his country safe!"
"Exactly!"
"At least you can tell he's loyal that way! He was willing to fight and die for the protection of people who'd rather see him dead than alive! That's called loyalty!"
