Enjoy, Happy Annual Thanksgiving feast no. 2! This one was close, but I hope you enjoy the meal and review!
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto
She laughed, but it felt surreal.
She smiled, but she felt anger.
She shouted at Naruto, but she felt like giving him a high five.
Sakura Haruno wondered to herself everyday, how her life became like a second skin, or a mask. When it started feeling like she was just watching a movie and her life play out with bad acting and naive feelings.
Nothing happened.
In her, Sakura's, life, nothing happened. The world felt grey and boring, with only trvial things to excite from day to day.
Maybe it was because she realized, early on, just how uneventful her life would be that she asked Tsunade to teach her. Teach her how to heal and to fight.
So she could be part of the action if anything like that arose.
But her friends, the people around her that laughed and lived like they didn't care that there was no thrill in life, no reason to continue on learning, or making friends, or thinking of the future.
Where does it all lead to?
A plain job you have to slave away to every day, earnmoney, find a spouse that could entertain you for the rest of your days, and make a family. Then die.
That wasn't fulfilling at all in her eyes.
The Universe screws with your life, she knew that. But that was personal shit, and she was a flexible person. Nothing affected her much.
If she moves far away from her friends, she can call, visit or forget them.
Hell, Sakura was an independant enough person to just move back and ask her parents to send money. She could crash Tsunade's, find a solid job, get an apartment, go to school and be with her friends.
Point is, she was a problem solver.
And a damn good one.
Stupid little crap like that wouldn't even make a dent in her life, or her life view.
Sakura might have expected that she would regret praying for this, but all the more reason.
Why couldn't a bomb just drop on her life?
Something huge, that would change everything she's used to, everything she's learned to handle and has taken for granted or has grown used to-
"Sakura, are you listening?" the graveling voice of Shikamaru Nara, resident genius, asked with a tang of annoyance.
"W-what?" she stuttered. Someone was talking? Since when?
It was like she had been underwater, and she only had her thoughts swimming around, speculating and observing. Her answers always ended up fruitless and negative, sending her spiraling down into the deep, depressing abyss.
"N-no, sorry," she apologized, glancing at the clock. "How long have you been talking?" Sakura asked.
"Only for, like, 10 minutes, forehead," huffed the Nara's teammate, a blonde beauty by the name of Ino.
"I wasn't asking you, Ino-pig!" Sakura responded with a disgusted twist, in return for the use of her old, annoying nickname.
"Both of you, shut up," whined Shikamaru, closing his eyes and massaging his temples. He could feel a headache coming on and 1st period hadn't even started.
"Shikamaru! She was being a mindless idiot ever since she sat down!"
"Sorry, alright!"
That wasn't what she wanted to say.
Well, at least I have the manners not to point it out when you're being an idiot!
That was much closer. But that wasn't what she was used to saying, or what they were used to hearing her say. Everything stayed normal. She didn't have any right to knock it all down after so many years.
Or maybe-maybe she was afraid?
Whatever the reason, Ino shut up with another huff and Shikamaru continued.
"I was talking about the Akatsuki. We're only freshmen, but I've heard our seniors talking about them like they were ghosts."
"They say that the Akatsuki can get away with anything. They cheat, steal and beat people up senseless in the middle of the halls," added Shino, who had been quietly ignoring Sakura and Ino from Shikamaru's right.
"My b-brother, Neji, said th-that we really sh-shouldn't mess with them. They're a t-type of people that j-just doesn't care."
Sounds like my type of people.
Hinata Hyuuga, a cute, but super shy girl with long hair and an amazing body. She also has a major crush on Sakura's teammate, Naruto.
"Waaaaait!"
Speak of the devil.
"And sa-fu!" the blonde teen cheered when he entered the classroom.
Naruto Uzumaki; just seeing him made her want to punch him. He was a good guy, but was obnoxiously loud and a huge knuckleheaded idiot.
He immediately spotted the little gathering and made beeline for it.
"Hey guys! Watcha talking about?"
"Not this again," Shikamaru groaned, sat his head on his desk and tried to sleep.
"Idiot," Ino grumbled, and went to her own desk in front of the classroom, as opposed to Shikamaru's far right corner right by the windows.
"N-naruto-kun, class is starting," Hinata said, albeit quietly, before turning to face the front to hide her blush.
"W-what? Come on guys!" he whined.
Sighing, Sakura decided it'd be best to just tell something so he'll go away.
"We were saying is-"
A) We're having a party at Ichiraku's for you getting into High School,
B) That we are ninjas and will now kill you,
C) Sasuke has a borther complex,
"That the dawn is dangerous."
…
…
"...Seriously? I always thought it was quite lovely and woke us up in the morning," Naruto said, still standing in front of Shikamaru's desk.
Woops…
"More like gives you nightmares and doesn't let you sleep," chuckled the barely conscious genius.
Asuma then decided it was a good time to start class and entered 1 - C.
"Naruto, in your seat!"
"What? Oh, sorry!" said a very confused Naruto, before he sitting down on the other side of the classroom.
Sakura, who was diagnally seated from Shikamaru, thought about the Akatsuki and ignored Asuma for a while.
That they could be the bomb she was looking for. But Sakura also thought of what it must feel like to be able to do whatever you'd want.
They must have a lot of freedom. ...I'm envious...
I hoped you enjoyed it! Review please!
