Our First Christmas

Harry and Ginny sat on the couch together, watching the fire, and drinking hot chocolate. It had been a few months since they got married, and now they were spending their first Christmas together. Ginny's broom and Harry's Firebolt both hung on the wall in display. The tree was decorated with Griffindoor ornaments. Some were lions wearing the Griffindoor scarves and Santa Claus hats. Some were just the symbol of Griffindoor, or the sword of Griffindoor. Yes, their tree was certainly Griffindoor themed, but there was one ornament for their first Christmas together as a married couple. This ornament was a simple, glass ball, but inside you could see pictures of happy memories Harry and Ginny had together. This was made by Harry, with some help from friends in the Ministry. He had also worked hard to make one for Ron and Hermione, and gave it to them in a small box. He told them they couldn't open it until Christmas Eve. Tonight, he expected they would be opening it now and hanging it on the tree.

Ginny set her mug on the coffee table and sighed. Harry placed his as well and wrapped his arms around her. She sighed and leaned into him. The only noise was the fire crackling in the fire place. Ginny wanted to speak, but it was so peaceful there didn't seem to be a need for words. She giggled when she thought she heard Harry snoring. She looked up at him to see his head leaning back. His mouth was wide open and he was snoring loudly. Ginny remembered when her mother would say he was just like his mother, but sometimes his father would come out unexpectedly. Ginny couldn't see Lily Potter sleeping like this. It must have been an adventure to be in love with James.

Harry's head seemed to jump. He opened his eyes and re-adjusted his glasses. "Sorry," He said quietly. Ginny giggled again.

"Long week," Ginny replied. "You've done a lot of partying, decorating…"

"Aren't you tired too?" Harry asked. "You've done a lot of cooking, and decorating, and had your fair share of partying."

"I am," Ginny admitted. "I'm also thinking of giving up Quidditch."

"Why?" Harry asked, seeming concerned. "I thought you loved it."

"I do," Ginny said. "But I'm thinking of becoming a journalist, or something of the sort so I can stay involved in it."

"How come you don't want to play anymore?" Harry asked.

Ginny looked at the fire and thought hard about her answer. "They call me 'Quidditch Player Weasley.'" She said. "But I am a Potter now."

"You can still go by Weasley." Harry said. "I don't mind. I don't want you to give up any of your dreams…"

"You are my dreams." Ginny turned and smiled at him. Harry smiled back at her before she turned back to the fire. "Besides, I shouldn't be flying in…my condition."

"Your condition?"

Ginny didn't answer right away. Harry wondered what on earth could keep her from flying… She loved it just as much as he did.

"Harry…" Ginny said.

"Yes Ginny?"

Ginny turned back to him and planted a kiss on the cheek. "I'm pregnant."
