Sitting in the darkness
Cold, scared
Lost, alone
Hope is left behind
In the dark and dreary past
Distant but not forgotten
In the distance
A small light
Shining brightly
A welcoming star
A long chase follows
Never coming closer
Hope once rising falls again
A fog of loneliness
Lost once again
In pain and sadness
Time passes
The fog lifts
Again the star shines brightly
Closer than before
Reaching toward the light
Finally warmed by the sun
Surrounded by happiness
Engulfed by the light
Time goes by
Days, Months, Years
The light once shining bright
Starts to dim
Free falling into darkness
The light once again
Slips away
Sitting in the darkness
Hope now will not fade
That someday
