Task 3D – What makes you laugh?
When people grow tired of jokes
Charles is a young man. He tells jokes to make his friends laugh. His closest friend, Brian doesn't like his jokes so much anymore. They were fun in the start, but now they get too repetetive. Brian and Charles work at the same place. Because of this, Charles can tell Brian all his jokes. They work at a science lab. Charles is Brian's assistant. He does his job well, but his job isn't to stay quiet. His job is to help Brian in every way possible. These things can be as simple as to fetch him something to drink or to help him with an experiment. Charles help most often with things that has to be done outside of the lab.
Today, Brian finds himself in a difficult position. His boss is ill and Brian is now boss until the regular boss is healthy. "I wish I was with the boss", Charles says. He looks down on the floor with a depressing face. "I could have made him happy with some jokes". Brian tries to come up with a reason he shouldn't go. He doesn't want to tell him that he doesn't like his jokes. "You would become ill too", answered Brian with an annoyed voice. Charles looks sad. He likes helping people and gets sad when there is nothing he can do. The lab is a complete mess, just like Brians apartment. If there is one thing he isn't good at, it is to ceep a place clean. He has order were he needs it like his shelf
Charles gets over the fact that he can't do anything to help the boss. Now he sees that Brian is fustrated. "What's the matter, Brian?", Charles asks with a calm voice. "I am in charge, that's the matter and there is a lot of things to take care of", Brian answers with his irritated voice. Charles tells a joke: Two atoms walks into a bar. One says to the other: "I think I've lost an electron". The other says: "Are you sure"? "I am positive". Charles laughs his head of. Charles starts to wonder why he asked Charles to be his assistant. He is quite intellegent, but he uses his intellect to make jokes. "Can you tell John that he is in charge wile you and I are gone?" Brians asks. Brian rushes up from the chair and goes to his shelf. "Alright", Charles answers and runs to the cantina. John works in the cantina.
Brian packs up some science gear and meets up with Charles close to the exit. "Were are we going?" Charles looks exited. Finally something to do. "To the ocean", Brian look just as exited probably because he found a reason not to be at the lab. "I can sea that" Charles made one of his puns again. He can see that they are going to the sea. The words sound like te same but they mean different things. Brian started to smile a bit, but he is to focused about the test he is going to make.
They are at the lake. Two people are there. They are arguing about a movie. "That side is the good side!", one of them says. The other says: "No that is the evil side". Charles goes over there. "Can't you just agree that people hav different opinions?" The two people look at each other. "Alright", they say. Charles answers with a joke. "That's good, or is it evil". The two people start laughing. Charles goes over to Brian who is doing some things with a remote. "What's that?" Brian ignores him and continues. Charles understands when Brian is consentrating. However, he is so curious about that thing. "I said, what's that" Brian turns around slowly. "It's a life signs detector. I am using it to detect where the fish is". Charles smiles from ear to ear. "I wonder why I didn't sea that". Brian really wants to tell him to stop with the jokes and puns. However, he don't want to hurt his friend, but now he has had enough. "Charles I don't know how to say this, but your jokes are sexy". Charles looks at him with a strange face. "Ok, do you want me to stop?", Charles asks. Brian looks surprised. "Yes, please". They finish up their work at the lake and work together as a good team.
