Final Fantasy Wars:
Chapter: 1 The Beginning
Andy sat at his desk at the Orange Star headquarters, his feet propped up, twiddleing his thumbs. He was growing concerned. He had yet to receive an update from the battalion commander at Moji Island.
He was just about to reach for the radio when Nell came in. Andy quickly put his reaching hand back into his lap.
"Good morning, Andy," Nell said in a slightly nervous tone.
"Morning, Nell." Andy stood up, stretched, and yawned so loud it felt like his face would split open.
"Nell, do you know of any action going on at Moji Island? Would you happen to know the movement of Grit's troops?"
"That's why I'm here to speak with you, Andy. Word came in that both of the forces stationed there, yours and Grit's included, have been virtually destroyed by Black Hole."
"What?" Andy said in a cryptic tone, not shouting it.
"Yep, that's what the reports say. A squadron of about 20 bombers, 10 for each force, dropped atom bombs that are less powerful then a regular one. Before they dropped on our side of the field, Lieutenant Colonel Steel gave one last transmission." Lieutenant Colonel Miguel Steel was the commander of the Orange Star forces at Moji Island.
"Play back the transmission, if you will," Andy replied.
"Sure thing." Nell pulled out a disk from her files and inserted it into Andy's desk. It was audio and video.
A first-person view from Colonel Steel's camera appeared on one of the walls in Andy's office.
"Tal, get me a radio channel to Andy," Colonel Steel said to his second-in- command.
"Sir, there seems to be some sort of electronic interference. I can't contact them," Major Neffin Tal replied.
"Very well, we'll--" Steel had paused because of a report from one of his platoon sergeants. "Yes, Sergeant Elbaku. What is it?"
"Sir," Elbaku replied, "unidentified air craft inbound at 6:00. Bombers, sir."
"What color are they, soldier?" Colonel Steel asked.
"They're--oh crap! Sir, they're not Grit's bombers! They're Black Hole's!" That registered into the colonel's brain. "And they aren't armed with regular bombs either! 10 of them and their armed with atom bombs half as powerful as a regular one according to our scans!!"
"Well, I'll be switched. . ." Steel muttered, awe-struck. "Willfred, get your anti-air squad into postion and shoot those bombers down!"
"Yes--" Explosions and static boomed over the ex-colonel's radio. Andy and Nell knew that the anti-air squad was destroyed.
"Miguel, more bombers, 3:00! They're headin' our way!" Major Tal screamed.
"Get our--ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The camera, attached to the helmet, fell off. Steel's torso showed on the undamaged video camera. A pile of blood was also in the frame. Then the view filled with static.
Andy grimaced.
"Another resource," Nell said, "said that the commander of the two fire teams was not Sturm, but in fact, two other COs."
"And who are those COs?" Andy asked.
"Well," Nell asserted, "the two commanders were actually already dead, but Sturm reincarnated both of them. One was a "guardian", the other a "summoner". Legend says that these two men come from another world called Spira. The names of these two indiviuals are Jecht and Braska. Jecht was the guardian, Braska the summoner." Before Nell could speak any further, a hole opened in the floor beneath her.
The same thing happened with Andy, Max, Sami, Olaf, Grit, Eagle, Drake, Kanbei, Sonja, and Hachi. Where will they end up? Nobody knows. TO BE CONTINUED --Next, The Arrival--
