Note: This is inspired by Naruto The Last Movie, of course and Sasuke's hotness. And this is my first complete fic (I was previously . .back here but I lost access) after what? Four years? Five? God. What have I been doing with my life? (Lurking on Tumblr.)

"People come and go. Some are cigarette breaks, others are forest fires."

"I have to go now."

Sakura woke up to the raspy voice of the man beside her. "Okay," she said, breathing in his scent and placing a kiss on his jaw, his warmth leaving her as she untangled her bare self from Sasuke's naked body.

They both picked up the clothes they had so carelessly—roughly—taken off the night before. Sasuke had just come back from another traveling mission. Sometimes he stayed for days, for weeks, but these days, more often only for a night. Sometimes she wonders if he would ever choose to stay over his duty. But she thinks that's too selfish, that Konoha should always come first, so she waves off the thought.

"Where are you assigned to this time?"

Sasuke meets her gaze for the first time that morning. "I can't tell," and then he averts his eyes, those beautiful, beautiful black orbs that says so much to her when he lays his forehead on hers as they move together in a frenzy. She can't help but sigh as her mouth presses into a thin line. Sakura doesn't want to part ways like this, never like this and so, she forces a smile.

In an instant, Sasuke is right in front of her, pulling her wrist, pulling her towards his still bare torso. His lips on her forehead, his hand in her hair, the other at the small of her back, pressing her firmly against him. And with this, Sakura knows.

"I'll come back."

"I'll be careful."

"I'll always come back to you. For us."

So, she wraps her arms around him just for a few seconds longer, and finds comfort from the movement of his chest, the sound of his heartbeat, the feel of his lips on her like fire on snow. Sakura thinks that if the day comes, she will drop everything—her duty, her Konoha, herself—just for Sasuke, just for them. She doesn't know if Sasuke will ever do the same, but she knows, she believes that one day, he will choose to stay. One day, he will choose her. Someday, he will choose them.
