Whirligig (Tabby J Skylark)
***
"And the whirligig of time has his revenges..." - Feste, Twelfth Night (Act V, Scene i)
***
The whirligig of time
Whirls around again
Promising me justice
Promising revenge
It's the darkest desperation, friends
Words sworn by a clown
And tonight I cry alone
O Lord, I think I'm going n'a drown
It's a tale told by an idiot
Full of hate and pain
And I say, O… the wind and the rain…
My ma won't be defeated
My ma will never cry
But all she seems to say is,
"Life's a bitch and then ya die."
No, she don't believe in whirligig
And as I lie in shattered glass
O, I think she might be right
Some folks have horse shoes up their ass
It's a tale told by an idiot
Full of hate and pain
With a hey and ho, the wind and the rain
And I wonder… Yes, I wonder…
Does what goes around really come around these days? (Wind and the rain…)
Vanity he swore
Horrible revenge
But as he stormed away, they laughed
"He won't be back again."
Maybe I'll escape to Plymouth with that fallen Puritan
But in my heart I know Malvolio won't sail the sea again…
It's a tale told by an idiot
Full of hate and pain
And I say, O… the wind and the rain…
O honest Iago
Evil that sailor sang
I love brilliant Iago
But I pray to watch him hang
For he thinks himself the whirligig and he'll destroy us all
For with his destructive power he could cause anyone's downfall
It's a tale told by an idiot
Full of hate and pain
With a hey and a ho, the wind and the rain…
Lady Luck loved Ross
But Ross was at a loss
Backed into the corner
He'd kiss the boots of any boss
O, he don't believe in anything
He's just trying to survive
But honor's all you've got, poor thane, you can't leave this life alive
How could Heaven hold a whirligig?
And if whirligig is real…
Then all my suffering tonight is all part of the deal
I'm just paying for the pain I caused some random, weeping soul
And my tears will turn around and cost some fool their dream, their goal
How could God support a vicious chain, O, a vengeful chain of pain?
It wouldn't help my fallen men and I'm sure to burn the same
Pray Peter please protect me
From that force I hide, disgraced (God just slapped me 'cross the face)
For that frightening wheel of life's somewhere, O, hurling time and space
It's a tale told by an idiot
Full of hate and pain
With a hey and a ho… the wind and the rain
And I wonder… Yes, I wonder…
Does what goes around really come around these days? (Wind and the rain)
O… the wind and the rain…
And I wonder… Lord, I wonder…
Is it wrong to pray for the whirligig these days? (Wind and rain)

A/N: Ya... I write songs, compose music... Original lyrics, original tune - wish you could hear it. Wrote this when I couldn't sleep, extremely miserable.
