"Wake up Annabel!" I heard my mom yell up the stairs. "Late?" I asked knowing no one else could hear me. I looked at my alarm clock to see I should have been up forty five minutes ago. I only had fifteen minutes to get ready. I jumped out of bed to fast and tripped falling on my face. "Owe." I whined. I stood up and got on a knee length pink skirt and a lighter pink sweater. I put my long strawberry blond hair back in a clip and ran down stairs as fast as I could. I kissed my mom good bye as I grabbed an apple since I didn't have time to have a complete breakfast. I got into my dark blue mustang and pulled out of the drive way of my big brick house. If you couldn't tell by now I am a soc.
About half way to school I decided since I couldn't this morning to put on some lip gloss. I looked up into the mirror and started applying my pink lip gloss when I hit something. I looked down to see it was another car.
"You've got to be kidding me." I said quietly getting out of my car as the other driver did. I was slightly relived to see it was Two-bit Mathews he couldn't be serious if you paid him unless it was in beer that is.
"I am so sorry Two-bit I was just in a hurry." I said almost in tears.
"Your Annabel Preston right?" He asked. I nodded.
"Look I'll have my dad pay for this I'll bring you a check tomorrow." I said realizing how socy that sounded. Our cars weren't that bad just a ding.
"Big time soc." he said getting into his car. I did the same and drove to school.
"Your late!" Mr. Rex shouted as I walked into the class room.
"I'm sorry sir I just-" I began to say until I was cut off.
"I don't need to hear an excuse now take a seat." Mr. Rex said firmly. I nodded and saw that the only open seat was next to a quiet greaser named Johnny Cade. I slowly walked to my seat getting stares from the class. I could tell my face was bright red.
"Hi." I said to Johnny quietly sitting down. He just smiled politely. He was pretty cute for a greaser. I kept catching him starring at me through class.
"Oh my gosh I can not believe you had to sit next to that greaser!" my best friend Katie said as we sat down at our lunch table.
"He seems nice." I said taking a sip of milk.
"He's a greaser have you forgot that? It doesn't matter if he's nice he's white trash." she said in a matter of fact voice.
"And don't forget it doesn't matter if you're a soc your still a bitch." I said grabbing my tray and walking to wear Johnny, Two-bit, Steve, and Ponyboy were sitting. I know them because I have at least one class with all of them.
"Hey guys can I sit here?" they all looked shocked but nodded. I sat down looking at Katie to see her reaction. She seemed just as surprised as they were.
"What brings a soc like you to our table?" Steve asked.
"Well I got into a fight with my friend so I thought I could sit with you guys. I smiled at Johnny but he still looked shocked. To tell the truth I was too but I wasn't going to let Katie win. Besides I wanted to see Johnny again. He was sweet. It was silent for a little while.
"Hey Johnny want to go out some time?" I asked. I'm not shy at all if you couldn't tell. All the guys looked shocked. No Soc would ever want to go out with a greaser but I had to show that I didn't care what Katie or anyone one else thought.
