Enigma
You watch him from afar. You watch him eat alone in the Great Hall. You watch him study by himself in the library. You watch him sitting in the back of the classrooms alone.
He's an enigma.
And you want him.
Regulus dropped his bag onto the table, sitting down in front of the Ravenclaw. He watched Barty look around at the other empty tables in the library, before he raised his eyebrow at Regulus.
Reg just gave him an appraising look, and buried his nose in his book.
Thus started a new pattern. Regulus would join Barty for a silent study date four or five times a week. They'd sit companionably for hours at a time, each with their faces buried in books, each with at least a portion of their attention on their desk mate.
Barty sat down in the chair next to Regulus, offering him a small smile before he turned his attention to the front of the class, where McGonagall was waiting to start her lesson.
Regulus smirked smugly to himself. His plan was slowly falling into place.
Thus started a new pattern. Barty began sitting next to Regulus whenever the two of them had a class in which their houses collided.
"Why did you sit with me, that day in the library?" Barty asked quietly. The two of them were sitting up at the top of the Astronomy tower.
Regulus took a long drag on his cigarette, blowing the smoke out in rings.
"Did you ever realise I was watching you, before that, I mean?"
Barty shook his head. "Can't say I did."
"You're an enigma, Barty. You made me wonder, and you made me want."
"Want what?"
"Want you."
You feel his breath against your skin. You feel his touch, light and yet firm, on your body. You feel him even when he isn't there beside you, because he's part of you now.
He's an enigma.
And he's yours.
