A/N: This was just a fun idea I had for a story. It takes place after the second movie at no time in particular. I hope you all enjoy it!

Rocket's Kitten

Chapter 1

Our story starts on the main deck of the Milano...

The Guardians normally looked to Peter Quill as their leader, but at the moment they all thought he was more than a little bit crazy.

"You want to go back to Earth?!" Gamora shouted what they were all thinking. "Why the hell would you want to do that?"

"Look, I haven't been on Earth since I was eight or nine," Peter explained, pinching the bridge of his nose in exasperation. For some reason he had thought this was a good idea.

"I am Groot," said Groot, shrugging his shoulders.

"Groot, you always side with him!" cried Rocket Racoon, looking up from whatever he was tinkering with. "Earth has probably changed a lot more that you think, Quill. Hell, I'll bet Ther's all sorts of murderers and serial killers running rampant."

"Rocket, just because I haven't been there in a long time doesn't mean that it's fallen completely to shit," cried Peter.

"You all swear a lot," Drax observed. "If I swor half as much as any of you, I'm sure my mouth would have fallen off a long time ago."

"Why would your mouth-never mind," said Peter, throwing his hands in the air in defeat. "I'm regretting having brought it up in the first place."

"I actually think we sould go," Drax said, standing up.

Everyone turned to him in shock.

"I am Groot."

"Shut the hell up Groot!" shouted Rocket. "We-I'm not letting you go to Earth, no matter how much you want to! And I happen to know you'd get weird with the trees!"

Star-Lord sighed, pinching his nose again.

"I only want to go to Earth for a day or two," he explained. "I don't want to stay there even semi-permanently. I just want to see how much it's changed since I was a kid. Is that too much to ask?"

"I am Groot."

"Of course you don't think it's unreasonable," muttered Rocket. "You just want to get weird with the trees and everyone here knows it, buster."

"I am Groot."

"You need to watch your language, buddy," shouted Rocket whirling around in his seat to give Groot his best death glare.

"Look, I just want to go for a single day, maybe two," said Peter, getting annoyed. "Is it so much to ask that we-I go to Earth to see how much my hope planet has changed? I haven't been on there since I was kidnapped by the Ravagers when I was ten years old. Just one day, that's all I'm asking."

"I'll think about it, Quill," Gamora conceded, stalking away sulkily to another part of the ship.

Drax put his hand on Peter's shoulder. "I'm sure she'll give in eventually, Quill. Just give her a little time."

oOo

As the team found out a few says later, Drax's words of wisdom were right.

As per usual.

All Gamora had needed was a little time to think through things. She ended up giving in about three days later in the form of a simple question.

"When are we leaving for Earth?" she asked.

"Y-you actually changed your mind?!" cried Peter, hugging her in his excitement.

"I'll change my mind again if you keep squeezing the breath out of me, Quill," she gasped.

Peter let go of Gamora, running to the piloting deck shouting to Rocket Racoon to "make the jump for supplies becaue they were finally leaving for Earth".

"Boy, this is gonna be one kick-ass adventure," Rocket said, his tone dripping with sarcasam.

"I am Groot," said Groot.

"Yeah, we're definitely keeping an eye on you around any trees," Rocket scoffed distainfully, adjusting the course of the Milano.

The Guardians were on their way to Earth at last!
