Lily was tired of it. Tired of the suspicion, the fear, the mistrust in her friend's eyes. When Dumbledore had announced to the Order that there was spy amongst them, they had been torn apart. The Maurader's were dissolving, and more importantly, James was drawing away from her. She knew that Sev would have known what to do, but he had gone over to the other side.
That was probably why Remus and Peter suspected Lily. They probably thought that she would betray her husband, his friends, and her only hope for safety because of her connection to Severus. James suspected Remus, and Sirius, Peter, but that only made her worry more for the fate of their band. Even now, eating a quiet lunch together, they watched each other warily, careful not to discuss anything but frivolities - the weather, when her baby was due, the new painting on the wall. She couldn't stand it anymore.
"Stop it! All of you! None of us would betray the others! You're the ones who pledged eternal friendship, and now you can't look at anyone else without suspicion!" she yelled, ignoring the shocked looks everyone was giving her, and that Peter had dropped his pie. She stood up, and ripped up her left sleeve, reveling her forearm. "Look!" she continued, irate. "No dark mark! Surprise, surprise! I'm not a Death Eater!" Ripping up her husband's sleeve, she shouted, "James isn't either!"
Moving on around the table, she continued, "Nor is Remus! And Peter doesn't have a dark mark-
