Hey, I'm glad you're here. I've been struggling with continuing my pokemon story, so I'm writing this to kind of get me back into the spirit of it. I hope you enjoy it! (I still by no means own pokemon)

Matthew pulled himself over the edge, coughing. He glanced over the hill, the vast Johto region spread out before him. He looked up as he caught his breath. "Onward and upward." He muttered as he stood up, gazing at the ledges above him. "Hang on, I'm almost there."

"I'm so sorry. It's just not possible."

"But, surely something can be done."

"Not at this time, we don't have the technology to do what you're asking. Mrs. Winters' body simply struggles to create eggs that can become fertilized. It's a genetic abnormality, and the technology required to alter that hasn't even been invented yet. Even if it was, there's also the matter of ethics involved." The doctor explained.

"So, nothing at all?" Mrs. Winters asked.

"Nothing, I'm sorry."

Mr. Winters stood up. "Thank you for your time doctor, you've given us a lot to think about."

"Of course," the doctor stated.

Mr. Winters escorted the doctor out, frowning in thought. When he returned to the room, Mrs. Winters sat frozen on the couch. He sat next to his wife. "Honey?"

"I-" she stuttered.

He put an arm around her, pulling her close. "I know."

She pulled her face into his shirt. "W-What am I doing wrong?"

"Nothing, you heard what the doctor said. This is by no means your fault."

"I-I know, but, part of me doesn't believe that."

He nodded, batting at his eyes. "I get that."

"Matt, I'm so sorry."

"It's okay," he stated, lifting her chin up to meet her eyes. "I promise, I'll do everything in my power to help you get through this. Whatever happens, we'll get through it together, okay?"

She smiled somberly. "Okay."

"Come on!" Matt yelled into the open air, hoisting himself over the last ledge. Standing up, the brisk mountain air blew dust particles across the barren, rocky summit. Sweeping the ground with his hands, a black substance stuck to his finger. He smiled. "Bingo."

He walked towards the center of the summit, dark thick clouds obscuring the world around him. A large, charred rock with markings he didn't recognize stood at the center of the clearing. He brushed along the sides of the shrine. "I'm here." He knelt down, adding a greater solemness to grim looking atmosphere. "Ho-Oh! Guardian of Fire, please, show yourself to me!"

Thunder boomed suddenly. Matt's eyes shot up as lightning that wasn't present before was now illuminating the clouds above him. A shadow soared through the clouds, the bright flashes of lightning illuminating it for brief moments. When the shadow disappeared into the clouds in front of him, his heart sunk. "I'm pretty sure that's not what I meant."

Immediately, a bright red flash appeared in front of him. A large red bird with green and gold accenting its wings stood proudly on the rock in front of him. The impact of the scene had caused Matt to fall backwards.

The large bird raised its head. SPEAK! suddenly boomed through the mountaintop.

Matt sat awestruck. "U-Um," He took a deep breath. "Sorry. Ho-Oh, it's said that you grant people eternal happiness. Please, I need you to help me."

The voice returned. WHY?

"Because of my wife. She can't have kids, but she and I want children more than anything in the world! I just want to help her be happy, I always have." He looked down. "She means the world to me, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to help her achieve her dream! Even my own life! Please Ho-Oh, help me to let her be happy!"

The legendary bird stooped down, gazing into the eyes of the man before him. Upon pulling back, it spread its wings out, fire of several different hues appeared, the bright colors surrounded him.

Matthew Winters! Very rarely in my life have I met someone with enough love in their hearts to give everything they have for others. Take heed to my words!

The strength of my flame sparks within thy breast

Humility, compelled with heart of gold.

For all your efforts you'll be surely bles't

Eternal happiness I will unfold

For just one child, you came unto me

And for your efforts, you shall have a son.

Yea, three sons will stem from your fam'ly tree

Their calling: Guard'ians to the chosen one.

Though through their strife, they'll soon gain evil's ire

Beware connections follies all along.

All their companions share their spirit's fire

The flames of weakness burn to make them strong!

Yet if one should veer off the righteous path!

All sons will burn in never ending wrath!

In a flash of bright light, the image of the bird subsided. Matthew looked to see a bright feather flutter down towards him. It fell in his hand, the sun peeking through the clouds. Small breezes brushed the soot aside as he gazed on this singular token. Tears began to well in his eyes, clutching the feather in his hands. "Thank you, Ho-Oh."
