Where Did You Go?

Ezra looked down at the grave and closed his eyes. Saying a prayer for his wife and best friend…

She moves across the world
[Daisy waving goodbye]
She's a sherakal on the sea
She's the Nile that flows forever
[Daisy sticking her tongue out]
Cutting a wound across the land

She'll be your friend before you know her
[Daisy putting her arm around Ezra]
She'll have your trust before it's earned
[Daisy reading the cards for Ezra]
But like any no-man she will wonder
[Daisy sitting in the dark]
Leaving your heart all broke and burned

History clouds what we remember
The woman you wanted her to be
Mysteries shrouds her like an island
It is an island in a lonely sea…

She moved in--yeah she moved me
[Daisy wearing her goth makeup]
She was the best friend I ever had
[Daisy and Ezra playing a card game]
And then one day she went away
[Ezra closing his eyes tightly]
Didn't think I'd ever feel that bad

Where did you go?
Why did you lie?
Why did you leave without saying goodbye?
[Ezra throwing the phone across the room]
How bout the promise that you made me
Was it really so easy to trade?
[Ezra slumping down against the wall]
For another town and another friend
Another beginning without any end

So many times I would have called you
If I had your number in my hand
[Ezra sitting by the phone]
You are the one I would have turned to
When things didn't go the way I planned
[Ezra walking in the dark]
I never got a chance to tell you…
Things didn't go the way I planned

History clouds what I remember
The woman I wanted her to be
[Daisy smiling and laughing]
Mysteries shrouds her like an island
Does she still remember me?
[Ezra looking at a picture of them]
Oh my life is like a turnpike
So many strangers passing through
[Ezra lying down in his bed]
There've been more than I can number
But I still remember you

Ezra slowly bent down and laid a single red rose against the tombstone. He looked over at his six- year old daughter…

"I can't believe it's been five years," he thought to himself

"Is mommy ok?"

Ezra smiled at his daughter and nodded his head 'yes'

Ezra: She is just fine, honey

He took one last look on the tombstone. Smiling at himself because of what was written on the tombstone:

'I have found someone I am willing to die for'
