Courage
What is courage?What does it mean?
Is it something you do
Or something that could be seen?
I've pondered this question
All of my life
And I've found the answer
With much hardship and strife.
At first I thought
Courage was being brave
Facing your fears
Without ever turning away.
"If you face your fears
You might end up dead.
That's not true courage,"
Someone had said.
I've pondered and pondered
And pondered again.
What is true courage?
Could someone lend a hand?
I've traveled the world
Trying to find an answer.
I did not find it
Until much much later.
There are two meanings
To the word courage.
I've finally figured it out
And stored it in my knowledge.
Courage is the power
To conquer the past.
To go on with life
And to choose different paths.
Courage is the power
To protect something dear.
To gain or lose anything
We should not fear.
"True courage lies within,"
Someone replied.
And I'll bring that courage
To the day I die.
