Six Years

A/N: I've always wanted to write a Pokemon fan fiction…so here. Have some Hoennshipping. This is filled with little headcanons just for personal satisfactions. This is also my first story I've written in months in a community that I've never written for. I hope this goes over well.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything. Gamefreak and Nintendo own Pokemon…for now.

Brendan was never very interested in coming home often. It was too boring, especially with his trip to Kalos coming up next week. The eighteen year old had spent the last six years exploring the different regions, spending much of his time in Johto, where he had met Ethan. They had met a couple days after arriving in Johto and after a quick battle (in which both to this day claim they won) decided that it would be in common interest to travel together.

Ethan showed Brendan all around Johto, taking him to all the gyms and major land marks. Brendan did the same for Ethan a couple years for Hoenn. That was one of the two times he had returned home in six years. The other was to see May compete in the Masters Contest. Sadly he missed it and she didn't answer his phone calls to apologize. Ethan had told him not to worry about it and wait for her to calm down to call him back. The call never came.

Now Brendan stood on the edge of Little Root, expecting the worst from his mom. He texted of called at least a couple times a week and his dad had covered for him, telling her this was the way Brendan was going to grow up and mature. Since his departure, Brendan had grown considerably standing at a stocky 6' 1". From all his travelling he had an athletic build, more defined facial structure and thicker neck. Even his ruby eyes had partially faded from a mixture of exhaustion and stress. They no longer seemed to glow constantly, instead only illuminating when a challenge had appeared or thinking about certain parts of his past. Normally, it involved thinking about a certain girl…

I wonder if she'll even recognize me. If I even see her.

"Rock me mama like a wagon wheel. Rock me momma any way you feel. Hey momma rock me" filled the air, snapping Brendan out of his thoughts. Ethan.

"Quit changing your ringtone. It's annoying," Brendan sighed as he answered his phone.

"Hah! I gotta keep you on your toes, man!" Ethan half shouted. "Anyways, did you make it to Little Root yet? I just got back to New Bark."

"Yeah. I'm on the edge of town right now. Not quite sure how long I'll stay. Probably a couple hours."

"Awh, c'mon, Bren! Gotta stay the night at least. For your mom's sake. Plus it'll increase your chances of seeing that spec-"

Brendan couldn't remember a time he hit end call so fast in his life. Damn that Ethan. His phone vibrated in his hand.

I was a fool to think you'd let me off that easily.

Ethan: Hang up on me all you want. But you better at least say hi to her or shoot her a text to meet up. Six years is a long time, Bren.

Brendan: Don't call me Bren.

A/N: This is more of a prologue. More to come soon! Rate, review, PM, follow, favorite to your heart's content. It's nice to be back.
